Hyperion does not agree with you: Read bottom lines of the Update 1 announcement...

@BigD and Kronos

You two can save your explanations for why you're right, because all you're doing is reinforcing what I said about people never being happy no matter what. Added to that, I don't care what you think. I thought that it was fun, and I don't have an issue with the way that they announce things. They gave people the peek into what's happening that some of us wanted.

Lighten up guys.

Hans

It wasn't no.
But still it was necessary to pre-promote it in forums?
The same thing A-Eon has done so succesfully.

This riddle was a genious move PR-wise, I just hope the hardware support gets confirmed from Hyperion soon so it doesn't become just another chapter of "what could have been".

I agree about riddle being a smart genious move...

The riddle would have been somewhat smart (but still annoying) if it had been followed up by full specs and a real website. Soon to be followed by a real product.

Right now it just stands to proove that "Amiga" can't even get simple PR-stunt right.

Bout Moana, the level of stupidity and ignoring costumer's whishes seen in this one prior and after it being "leaked" is simply beyond believe, read yet another incident in making Amiga the prime system for vapour.

And yet it led to discussions even on non amiga related sites and also led to plenty of new people registering at amigaworld.. I have mostly only heard positive response about the campaign/riddle, so you seem to be in the minority. I am sure they have some reason not to reveal full specs yet.

@site admin

It would be great to see some stats for the period immediately before during and after the riddle unveil.

I would like to see if possible:

Site traffic on a graph.
Post volumes on a graph.
Member numbers prior to the unveil and after.

Can this be done?

Yeah, but that might have been the crest of the wave! The best moment to snap up pre-orders etc. Instead, they weren't able to deliver the specs, price, delivery date or CPU type, even though AmigaWorld members are claiming Rogue has one sitting on his desk!

It's a missed oportunity and don't expect the same tech journos to come back every time we leak these tiny bits of info! If you 'shout wolf' enough, they will stop coming! It's not like we're building up a cresndo of interest here! The interest will die down the longer Hyperion takes to back up what A-Eon have 'riddled' to us An official announcement is needed very soon!

P.S. Will it have 3D TV support?

@Thread

From Hyperion Website:
Quote:
Hyperion Entertainment wishes to thank its loyal customerbase for their continued support without which the recently revealed project with A-EON Technology would not have been possible.

It's good to see some mention of A-EON but still not enough info!!

I think this might deserve its own news item on Hyperion's page!

@hotrod

Why is this announcement so low key then? This is either a proper re-launch or it isn't! This half ####d "When it's done!" mentality doesn't wash in the real world. The original 'Lorraine' motherboard was rushed to debut at the 1984 CES show and boy did it make a splash! The virals and snippets at the end of Hyperion's "OS4.1 update 1" news bulletin are just teasing with no intention of making a big marketing splash. The news is: "There will be another Amiga"! When the news could have been;

"The Amiga is back and it will rock for ...... (insert niche market use as applicable)!

The casual tech reader will just view this as a curio and may or may not check back to see if the machine has a useful selling point! I repeat MISSED OPPORTUNITY

I hope the whole riddle DOES get saved.

Fun is good.

We all need some fun from time to time. This computer nonsense can get so serious....

I am sure there will be more press coverage once we have the specs and a release date.

Finally the lobbying gave some results

If you look at the time of the posting, you will see I wrote it before that could be read on Hyperion entertainments page, since that page was unavailable, at least for me.

Yes, at least most of it.

But, if I tell you that I'll have to kill you

Regarding the number of members, the numbers went up quite dramatically, but hard to tell the exact prior and after, since many members are inactive, and we use to clean out inactive accounts after a few years, and currently the last clean out was around three years ago.
But, as long as I have been on the staff here, I have never seen so many new member registration/day before

Hi, i'm one of these new users.

I started with an A1000 and quit with an A4000/40. From time to time i'm using UAE but with the announcement of the X1000, it's the first time i actually got interested in somekind of Amiga hardware again.

With all the bad things happening since the Amiga mostly dissapeared i'm completely unsure how this one will turn out. If it's a cooI system which tickles my curiosity then i might buy it, if not then i won't. Honestly i care more about what the system (hw&sw) will be capable of and which niche market they target at, than how it's advertised. At least at this point i really don't expect any clever, professional or big budget marketing.

So imho let's just wait and see...
