You just managed to imply that buying a printed magazine actually helps save the environment. You should become a politician. |

Unfortunately that's true, but probably wouldn't affect printed sales, since some people would always prefer to have that.

Buying Amiga Future printed magazine helps save the Amiga, also helps the publishers. Reading Amiga Future at public places actually advertises the Amiga to the people. The Amiga usage is good for the environment. My Amiga consumes less energy than the PCs of my friends. So my Amiga is more environment friendly. In a long run buying Amiga Future magazine is good for the environment.
The people who care much about the environment should pick more on the cars than on the paper published magazines. Because a single car in it's usage consumes more energy and produces more pollution than the print of AmigaFuture magazines. _________________ Games, programs, reviews |

I love Amiga so it is not a problem for me to buy Amiga Future every other month. I really look forward to it. I hope Andreas does more business with the magazine this month. He deserves it for the hard work it takes to bring us this magazine. So I would say to anyone out there who has not bought Amiga Future before...buy it this month, you may like it and you may even take out a subscription, but most of all you will be supporting the Amiga!!

I must admit I prefer a printed magazine for several reasons:-
1. I can take it with me on plane/train journeys.
|
I ussually use a laptop (Sony Vaio VGN-FW45GJ) i.e. I have airplane/car power adaptor and two li-ion batteries (about 6 hours total).
We have several solar panels(~1.5KW/h peek) for computing/electronic CE devices. For car power adaptors, I drive a Prius G2 i.e. while waiting, I use it's EV battery for the laptop.
PS; I'm for energy independence camp. Being "green" is just a bonus. I use my laptop for PC gaming i.e. fitted with Mobility Radeon HD 4650 GDDR3.Last edited by Hammer on 05-Mar-2010 at 12:55 PM. Last edited by Hammer on 05-Mar-2010 at 12:52 PM.

Your points are totally valid, though a bit unfair, as I was comparing a printed magazine to a PDF, not a car. But sure, a printed mag with a low circulation is far from being the world's greatest concern right now. And I'm not really an environment freak, I'd most likely buy AF if I came across it in the local newsstand anyway. It's great to have an Amiga mag, regardless of the format, so we should support it. I'd just prefer to support it with a "Buy PDF" button
(Sorry for the thread starter, we're going somewhat off topic) |

Running for office.
Seriously though, when I download a PDF I just have to print it out. Just call me old fashioned.

| Ok I just wait another 10 years for the info to finaly come out. I dont have a Amiga any more so not much point in me buying the mag just for a bit of info. When and if Amiga comes back I will buy the mags again. Realy starting to get feed up of the lack of info and progress. The white flag is half way up the poll.

Don't get too despondent. The AW Developer projects forum will be updated shortly after Amiga Future has been published.
Amiga Future is a good read though. Back issues are freely available in PDF format, albeit a year of so after publication. Also "Total Amiga" magazine, which closed down several years ago, is still a very good read, and most of the PDF's can be freely downloaded.

Some would say we all are, holding on to the Amiga. My wife called me old when I dragged a Minimig into the house a few days ago and hogged the TV for the evening playing Amiga games

Hello mate. I was expecting someone like you will jump in. This site have become so predictable.
To your question. Buying Amiga magazine means that the magazine will be published next time. If no one buys it, it will stop being published. Imagine someone who was out of touch with the Amiga for a longer period. He checks for the Amiga, but wants to read more - so he find outs there are still printed magazines. There is still Amiga published magazine - amazing. Why not buy the magazine and check. Later he gets interested more in the Amiga and buys hardware, software and enters the scene. This is only one example.
If you are saying this is improbable, then you will be wrong, because back in 1999 when I did not believe that the Amiga was still around, I found Amiga Plus magazine and took some issues. Inside the magazines were adverts for some Amiga dealers and I bought A1200 from one of the dealers. So I was back into the Amiga scene, with AGA. Nice upgrade from the A500 and A600. If there was no printed magazine, I would probably not upgrade and be back to the Amiga.

Support the Amiga magazine and buy. I enjoy reading a real magazine and I expect exclusive info.
Here in UK I still have not received my copy. I wonder how long it takes for everyone who has ordered to get a copy.
I dont want info to come out before everyone who has ordered, gets a chance at a good read !

| @ruben But if 50% of the current readers of AF converts to the .pdf version of the magazine I think printing costs will rise considerably for the remaining.
I don't have a subscription atm. but I have had before (and will again..) and it's a great magazine so I can only encourage people to subscribe. _________________
