Hello,

Using AOS4 and really would like to have a great paint package ported.

Maybe this one:

http://www.inkscape.org/?lang=en&css=css/base.css

Gallery:

http://www.inkscape.org/screenshots/index.php?lang=en

The source compiling page:

http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Compiling_Inkscape

This kind of program could be ported to AOS4/MorphOS/Aros or Amicygnix ( libs dependencies) ????

@Mrodfr

It's a vector drawing program, rather than a paint program.
"About Inkscape
An Open Source vector graphics editor, with capabilities similar to Illustrator, CorelDraw, or Xara X, using the W3C standard Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format. "

So far AOS4 has apps like Mindspace for vector graphics.
And GIMP(via Cygnix) and GrafX for painting.

(+ hand full 68k apps)

But the more we get native apps the better.

btw. is there a 2D drawing modes in blender???

Inkscape is an outstanding piece of software, used daily here on Linux and Windows.

Our best best to get it to OS4 would be to run it via AmiCygnix, although there are a few
dependencies needed (some of which we do already have, I believe).

MindSpace is great for simple diagrams, flowcharts etc, but is no where near on the level of Inkscape - it would be like comaring MS Paint with Photoshop.

MindSpace 2, however...

@spotUP

porting it to os4 will be hard though.
we currently lack:

* 4.1 Boehm-GC
* 4.3 GlibMM
* 4.4 GtkMM
* 4.6 Boost
* 4.7 Poppler

My post is also about this point.

- What are the hard points for porting Inkspace, more precisely ???? (One or more special libraries on this list, the portability itself, Just need big free time for a programmer,..................)

- Glib and GTK are hard to port ??? (the Questions are from a simple user).

And more generally:

- what are the key libraries that need to be ported to open a big door for porting software like this one on the amiga ????

Not in the inkscape sense no.

There is a built in paint mode, but it's not all that amazing, and struggles a little speed wise even on fast hardware.

You can create 2D effects by playing with camera projects and stuff, but that's a whole different ball game....

Yes, if for no other reason than that they are big.

@all

And do you have examples about pixel /anim based paint programs, as good as InkScape (and could be ported on AOS4) ????

@TheDaddy

GlibMM and GtkMM, at first, because Broadblues said allready much of work for this 2 libraries.

Maybe this 2 libraries will open a door for ports for AOS4/MorPHOS,.....

Yes, I was verry surprised to see this beaytifull inkscape as a portable program.

Now that I have a working OS4 system again, it's being worked on, slowly, but steadily.
