Added a new section in post#1 for demos, in addition to the previously added section for seminars, based on:

Quote:
I'm the only one that is coding AMC, and I'm doing the AmiWest demo too.

Note for exhibitors:

If you are planning to do a demo, in addition to exhibiting what you are bringing, please post and I'll add any new demos to the list.

From Amigadave on amiga.org:

Quote:
On a thread related note, I will have three 1.25 G4 PowerMacs for sale at the AmiWest 2010 Show in less than two weeks, with MorphOS2.6 installed on them (not yet registered, that task is for the buyers to do). One of the three will be available by raffle ticket purchase, $5 for one ticket, or $20 for 5 tickets.

So, come to the AmiWest 2010 Show and have a chance to get a nice MorphOS capable computer for as little as $5! How can you NOT come to the show now?!? This is in addition to the other prizes that will be given to the winners of the Amiga Game Competition ($5 entrance fee, Grand Prize = 1.25GHz G4 eMac w/MorphOS2.6 registration key donated by the MorphOS Dev. Team) and the usual raffle prizes given out by the SACC.

I am going to stay at the Hampton next door. Since the code AMI does not work since all the AMI rooms have been taken the Hampton owned by Hilton was a better deal.

well, then there will be at least two of us there!

the 'ami' code also only worked for the evenings of the 22nd and the 23rd, but not the 24th. and the hampton was less costly in any case.

looking forward to meeting everyone!

I was told on the phone when I called the Hotel that all the slots for the AMI code were taken. The cheapest rooms were around $150 a night without it. That is why I got rooms at the Hampton.

2 more new announcements just in:

Quote:
Holiday Inn Express room reservations still available at the AmiWest rate!

By amigaprez

Despite all of the press to the contrary, apparently people are trying to reserve rooms at the last minute for our show. We appreciate the demand. However, the "group code" for the special AmiWest rate, first given on August 4, 2010, expired some time ago.

As with many reservations sites, the closer one gets to the event, two things happen:

1) The price of the room goes up.

2) Special website access is either limited or expires.

You can still reserve your room at the AmiWest rate by calling the hotel front desk directly and stating that you are with the AmiWest show. Just call the number given below to reserve. We hope that this alleviates the "glitch" that some are experiencing by waiting until the last minute.

I emailed the AmiWest organizers and they confirmed with the hotel that you can still get the special rate if you mention it is for AmiWest. The old "ami" code is long gone. See the blog for details.

As I posted in post #1:

Quote:
This year, our video stream to the internet, including these seminars, is being recorded for future reference. If successful, we hope to publish
this in DVD format for an as-yet-to-be-determined contribution to AmiWest.

As long as there are no technical issues, you shall get your wish.

Let's hope someone thinks ahead and brings along a cheap, practically disposable digital camera with video recording. It's certainly not necessary to use actual Amiga hardware to do the recording.

Like last year, I will have my hi-def camcorder there to record all the important talks. Also Blip.tv (where I put my videos) has dropped the policy of only accepting Quicktime or WMV files for upload. So now, I can give them files, like MPEG-4's.

@RobertB

A bit offtopic, but why not youtube ? Its much more usable (and on aos4/mos too), in compare with some sort of slow and un-popular Blip.tv . Of course it will be better to put it anythere in compare with not having at all, but youtube imho much-much better for end users today.

2 new entries.

Carl and Cindy Sassenrath added as exhibitors.

Classic clinic (diagnostics/repair) returns.

Both added to Post #1.

Post #1 cleaned up a bit and text added for copying to all websites, which I'm in the process of doing.

...why not youtube ?

YouTube is limited to 15 minute videos (unless you are a commercial client who can pay lots of money). Blip.tv has no time limits, though there is a 1 gig upload limit. Hence, I can put long videos at Blip.tv without the trouble of breaking them up into little parts. However, once posted at Blip.tv, you are free to take the videos and break them into little parts for YouTube.

The longest Amiwest video in the past being well over an hour,

I hope I'm not stealing one of Amiga Prez's upcoming posts, but we just acquired one of those "key" bits of information that all Amiwest attendees want to know...the menu. Heh.
Subject to change, as any information concerning the show is.

AmiWest banquet menu:

Jack Daniel marinated and grilled-tri-tip roast served medium rare, with creamy horseradish and rosemary au jus.

Roasted cubed vegetables including redpepper, carrots, green and yellow squash. Tossed with herbs and butter.

Garlic mashed potatoes

Harvest house salad, spring mix with feta crumbles, candied walnuts and
sundried apricots tossed with a sweet and spicy vinaigrette and ranch dressing.

Sour dough bread & butter

Coffee station

Undoubtedly there is dessert and beverage with meal. I just don't have that info yet. Enjoy!

Should we make arrangements before bringing in classic hardware on Friday?

No need, I brought my 4000T in last yr, the guys work on any system as they come in & quit when everything is done. They worked quite late last yr.
