like the bits of a strong support for C=USA activity ;)

@marko

Since a week the Netbook version of Ubuntu on the Dell Latitude D610... only thing I can say it is a refreshing experience. Not perfect, as I find myself firing up the terminal way too often. But I can see no good reason why Linux should not be available for the X1000. Both AmigaOS as Linux could benefit from it I guess.

Its not bad to have linux on it like its not bad to use aros/windows/mac on a x86 system.

Like me i have dualboot on my Amigaone. Ok i havent used linux since i got owb for os4 but before that i used linux when i wanted to surf some pages that ibrowse wouldnt show. I have 2 harddrives. One 200gb for os4 and one 9gb for linux. The linux one is powered off but its only for me to power it again if i want to use some apps that os4 dont have. I dont miss linux but i know many other folks use it. So its welcome. I mean if you dont like it dont install it. but the feature is there if anyone wants to use it. I will use my x1000 mainly for os4.

@Kicko

TBH I myself may use OS4 more often, but Linux is definately also an OS I use.

So yes, it is good to have Amiga OS and then Linux as a side entry.

The more AOS grows, the less Linux may be needed, only time will tell.

Cheers

For all of those asking for a text transcript. Just have a nice candlelight dinner with the wife or girlfriend. Instead of soothing music in the background play this episode of ART.

But what about those of us with slow connections and anything streamed is jerky and unreliable thanks to the wonderful UK telecoms company BT who limit my phone line to 512kbps.

I for one would much rather read a summary than try to listen to some streamed media that will keep cutting out.

arrived as promised, random notes from the 73:30mins long material :

* is a-eon gonna cooperate with morphosTeam as a hardware provider ? :
a) ben hermans's in a-eon, he work with hyperion, so it's not possible
b) trevor said he's supprotive to all amiga flavors, his 2nd favorite os is morphos

* how about morphos ported to x1000
a) a-eon is a hardware company, we want every amigaoses on x1000 + linux
b) the linux port will be done free of charge

* how long for the linux to be available on x1000 ?
a) rudimentary port is already available to test the machine
b) it's gonna to be available soon, the person involved in manufacture of the cpu used in x1000 is working on it

* some people from amigaos community in Poland considers x1000 not an amiga computer, cos a-eon doesn't have a right to Amiga name but only to amigaOne and this is the topic in which C=USA is mentioned :
a) trevor doesn't know how 'C=USA problem' is gonna to be solved
b) hyperion may discuss this issue with amiga inc.
c) next generation amiga == x1000 + sams, as far as amigaos4 is concerned

* exec asked if it is possible to put x1000 inside the c=usa amiga case
a) no other cases than commodore gaming netherlands case is out there with a commodore mark on it (nimrod : if i correctly understood the answer : Trevor's just tackled the question to disregard the non-existing C=USA products)
b) we put out a complete system : * betatesters are exception

* exec's question : will you leave ppc market if the selling goes wrong ?
a) trevor thinks ppc has a bright future, new chips coming out and the whole technology will be cheaper
b) hyperion controls the destiny of amigaos4, so who knows
c) a-eon won't sell boards, company must get the stuff rolling by selling systems first

* some silly jokes from Richard ;)

* carl sasenrath working on rebol port for amigaos, someone (acube or trevor, trevor doesn't remember) gave him the SAM system
* trevor created the anniversary puzzles ;)

* has any fo the nemo design partners hinted or suggested (?) for possible cards(?) for xena/xorro :
a) a-eon's gonna supply the board to a guy who's gonna produce the programming suite for the board. guy's closely linked to xmos company
b) trevor would like to have some kind of a demonstration included in the system to present the xmos possibilities
c) trevor is suprised how many linux devs would like to do something on x1000
d) 3rd party is working on wi-fi driver,
e) radeon support's gonna be greatly improved : Hans de Ruiter's working on it
f) x1000 is considered a prototype machine for Hyperion to work onSMP
g) maybe there's gonna be a future collaboration between a-eon and acube on amiga laptop but right now it's a wishful thinking (...and laptop will definitely contain linux port ;)

* Trevor is a stamp collector ;) and he is focused on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penny_black
* he is a Sunderland fan (some may say this news's gonna cripple a-eon business ;)

* Richard or...the other guy from the studio ;) wondered if there is a chance to port a SnowmanMaker to X1000

* Trevor is considering buying 5 betatest boards to give them to developers, maybe there will be a poll in which members gonna decide who's gonna receive a board

* Trevor said a-eon stuff it's not a kind of business : "hey we'll stick an Amiga name on this, come and buy it"

...and lots of bitterness from Richard concerning amigacommunity ;) and lots of SnowmanMaker jokes ;)

that's all folks !

Thank you for this effort.

@thread

I'm sure exact wording and phrasing may make a difference in understanding some of the questions and answers, but this gives you a good starting point.

@thread

A more complete english transcript:

http://www.hostcove.com/AEON-part1.txt

@nimrod7

Sorry. Due to the fact that some posters categorically refuse to post on both AW and amigans.net, information like this usually fails to reach all the users.
It's another part of the amiga curse, imo. The users pay the price.

Many many thanks to @LogicalHeart for his hours of hard work to bring us this transcript.

""

is that news? this has been a cliche in childeren books for a long time-..

the lack one pence as a collector trophy- i mean.

well thinking of it its a little as if a collector whos got enough of black onepence, because they are still way too many decided to print his limited edition of it in color.
