@TheDaddy

As others have said, Matt Groening seems to be a bit too much like his character Homer Simpson, watching the clock as he's waiting for the episodes to just be finished. Like anything it appears to have shifted from fun to work for Groening. And the quality has dropped, tremendously. If I were him I'd just be embarrassed by the new stuff.

Saw the Amiga mention... not exactly favourable as it gave the impression that the Amiga is out of date and dead, not a reference with fondness.

Nope, your not getting old, either that or we all are(?). I agree, the time travel one was good for instance, but i found myself laughing a whole lot more the earlier seasons, again high expectations could playing a role as well as rusty writers i guess. Time to slip some more of that lsd into the water tower maybe?

It is not necessary, all are already derogate in this substance. Maybe it's best with some anti-matter?

So what is your point exactly? The quality might not be as good as it used to be but maybe there are still millions of people watching it or that think it's still a very good program.

Like with many other art forms (songwriters, rock bands, painter etc...) the artistic vein dries out or takes a dip.

Maybe he just likes making it for fun (I doubt he is still making it for money!), he maybe even realises and knows that it is not as good as it used to be but it's his creation and wants to carry on, as I said if you don't enjoy something you don't have to do it (watch it in this case).

Many people stop following rock bands because they don't produce material considered of the same quality as their early stages but you still see them around playing, releasing albums, having concerts etc...

It's like someone told us: "Hey, why are you still banging on about the Amiga, give it a rest! It's not "funny" anymore, it's not ahead of its time anymore, stop using it".

People are free to do whatever they like (within reason)...

@Thread

Just caught the 'Homer the Whopper' episode with the "Amiga branded fax machine" reference! Made me smile despite the derogatory nature of the mention.

@BigD

I don't get it. Amiga didn't make any fax machines. Nor Commodore that I know if. Was this joke intended for people who didn't know what an Amiga was?

I also found it hard to find. Took me some searching. Looking the name and not number helped.

I skimmed through this but I didn't see it. So didn't know what the big deal was. I didn't see any Amiga reference!

@Hypex

Krusty asks if anyone knows where you can get ink for an Amiga branded fax machine.

It's a lazy writer just picking a defunct and culturally irrelevant tech brand from the past I guess. A fax machine fits the bill as a irrelevant product from an irrelevant company despite it being historically inaccurate.
