| m3x already has 365MB/s - 560MB/s as Ram values, which will be available to the others in the following updates, same goes for many other things (video Bus for example). Too many wip/early on settings coupled with other factors (different versions of the same software delivering mounstrous differences on the same machine) and what you obtain are just all over the place useless results (which is what this thread has bbeen all about sadly). Ask the guys at TomsHardware or ArsTechnica (you name it) and they will tell you that what you need is a suit of sinthetic and real life applications, all run with the same version on finalized drivers. That's the way it is with benchmarking sessions, no re-inventig the wheel (or rules).

In real world it doesn't exsist since it isn't available for normal users so test isn't useless. It shows what's the state is now. Do you also claim that USB transfer is faster since there is USB2.0 drivers which "just needs bit more testing". |

| @Rose In the USB case you are perfectly right, and in the past you might have been right on the values I've mentioned as well, however it is a recent thing, that updates for those settings do come out very steadily, so you wont have to wait that much for a change. For example look how all over the place those values are in the last chart. There are 3 460 systems all showing different values, and the owners all received their systems within a very small time frame. When you see a situation changing by the week (depending on who's receiving his new system "today") it isn't hard to conclude that the situation is too unstable for benchmarks at the moment.

Test should be made out of beta at least. Sam460ep has many beta drivers. As Acube already released many improvements for Sam440ep. they exist and will be released. Probably it is you that want to see this system to loose. Let them to exit beta stage at least without further optimization._________________ ikir |

I think benchmark numbers aren´t surprising. SAM460EX has fastest memory and not that fast CPU design (slower L1 cache than G3/G4, no AltiVec).
This nice motherboard offers even now great features, however improved drivers are needed for some of them (Radeon HD, SATA2). |

No, as you did that judgment on a comment of mine, not Dax' one.

Why on earth test an A1-XE @ 1.4GHz??! Noone has such a machine. I bet the FSB/memory is overclocked in this as well since it seems to perform so well on the benchmarks.
A stock A1-XE @ 800 or 933MHz with 133MHz FSB would be more fair and make for realistic comparizons for those looking to buy a Sam460.
This test sucks as far as the Sam460 goes....
It even outperforms a Peg-II on memory performance. That's rediculous. Last edited by Deniil715 on 24-Mar-2011 at 04:12 PM.

| i have to agree with pavlor here, results look much as expected. mencoder could go for a realworld benchmark too i think. even if using the same version under the same system on all hw would give the most dependable results, the "as is" comparison also tells something. lets see how this improves as soon as sam460 software gets out of beta.

| @Deniil715 & others
Well, in the general case, I agree. However, at the time I did this "test"...
I first did the test where I only compared the Sam440@800 (which I have) against the up coming Sam460ex... which I didn't post...
After a while I thought how does these (my Sam & Sam460) compare with the fastes Peg I could find... and to be somewhat fair I added the fastest AmigaOne (that I could find)... and then it growed with a A4000T... And became a Big-### long test so I stripped most of results away and then posted this here...
After a while I thought I add some more common models but since I have copied the results from the (old) Amigans.net thread, which as you know is down so I haven't been able to do that yet...
@thread
When the old/new amigans becomes online or the results can be found elsewhere I might add some results of more common models...
Depends on how motivated I am in the end... after "some of your" "bitching" about the (crap) results (sucks)... :-/

If you or Seiya are looking for any Amigaone/Micro results, there was an earlier thread about ragemem with results posted:
Memory / Video Benchmark Test
Be aware though that V0.37 results only appear on the last few pages. Prior results were posted using earlier versions of ragemem, which are usually noted.

I see.
Well it is cool to see that the fastest A1 could beat the fastest Peg-II I still believe it has an overclocked FSB though...
But for the cheer usefulness it would be nice with some actually available machines. So that people can see if there is an upgrade from A1 to 460 or just a side-step. Whenever the results become available of course _________________ - Don't get fooled by my avatar, I'm not like that (anymore, mostly... maybe only sometimes) > Amiga Classic and OS4 developer for OnyxSoft. |

| it will be very interesting a porting di ragemem for AROS or windows to test similar hardware (500, 600, 800 and 1000 mhz cpu).

@number6 it's nice thread, but there are many releases of ragemem. i think any amigaOS/MOS users shoud use latest release.

Absolutely. I only gave you the link so you could use the results from: Ragemem V0.37 and ignore the earlier ones.
Plus, it is interesting to see how ragemem came to exist.

Why choose least meaningful aspect for such nice graph?
RageMem is useful for cache/memory performance, but its CPU mips are only informative (eg. 750GX is faster per clock than 440EP). |
