| My mind boggles a bit that some people have apparently missed all the AmigaOS4 news this year, or otherwise forgotten it. Just off the top of my head:
Oct 2009: (not this year but damn important) Hyperion had a settlement with Amiga Inc, vastly in their favour. Allowed them to work on AmigaOS4 without distractions, which probably helped all the later news...
Jan 2010: The secret A1-X1000 project was revealed to the world.
Jan 2010: Update 1 was released for OS4.1. Major bug fixes, particularly on the Sam440.
Apr 2010: ACube announced the Sam460.
May 2010: ACube announced OS4.1 would be ported to the Sam460.
May 2010: Update 2 was released for OS4.1. MAJOR update, with tons of new features, improved ease of use, a far more polished look, great stability, etc.
Jun 2010: First demo of OS4.1 (barely) running on both the X1000 & Sam460, at the Amiga VCF show.
Oct 2010: At AmiWest we found that Hyperion have started work on Gallium (OpenGL) & SMP (multi-core) for OS4. We also know that USB2 is virtually ready. We heard that OS4.1 will be released for Classic users.
And OS4.1 was demoed running well on both the X1000 & Sam460, at AmiWest.
Dec 2010: Ssolie reveals that Update 3 for OS4.1 should be released early next year.
Any other news I forgot?
EDIT: I had forgotten the demos of OS4.1 on X1000 & Sam460. Now added! Last edited by ChrisH on 10-Dec-2010 at 09:23 AM. Last edited by ChrisH on 10-Dec-2010 at 08:38 AM. Maybe you should leave all the Amiga-ish systems alone then and just use Windows. That way you can get a few updates every month which should please you no end. _________________ RobTheNerd.com | InstallerGen | SMBMounter | Atoms-X |

| News are news.
What we need are facts...
About X1000 About OS 4.2 About Timberwolf
Look at the forum of Natami.net. They are doing a good work, communicating all the news and developments.
At the moment Natami seems the only development making big steps...
It'a all about communication.

i dunno if natami is making that a big progress in comparison. there is a lot of talking on the forum. partly hollow. thomas is said to make progress in behind.
but if looking for steady progress then there is aros 68k: http://repo.or.cz/w/AROS.git hope this will be something |

I got the impression listening to Ben Hermans at Amiwest 2010 that Timberwolf is being endorsed as an OS4.x component.

Since you mentioned Amiwest and the SMP and OpenGL work, at the same show they also added to the what's next list, the use of more than 2GB of ram in OS4. Major news IMO, many apps will benefit from it (large 3D scenes, large video files and so on)._________________ SamFlex Complete 800Mhz System + AmigaOS 4.1 Update 4 Amiga 2000 DKB 2MB ChipRam GVP G-Force040 Picasso 2 OS3.9 BB2 AmigaCD 32 |

No - not happy at all. I want to have some news about the work in progress.
Why should we always wait, before work is done?
Developers shoul communicate new achievements and talk about their work to the community.
Of course, if someone do not want to now the meaning of the community, there is no need to communicate. But then, they don't have to wonder if some parts of the community begins to ignore them.
All i want from the developers: Talk to us....
We are here, listening... _________________ Sometimes we give people a lot of credit just because they’re writing nice sentences even if it isn’t adding up to much. |

| @hotrod Birbo are right. What is need it its just some blog , where hyperion will post just 1 time in the month what happens, on which work is going on, what is plans and so on. And everyone will be happy. Not time consuming in general, but will show better organization for all the new customers. Because read all those madness topics on AW to found the "news about aos4, which dunno news or just speculation", its a bit annoing. Last edited by kas1e on 09-Dec-2010 at 12:58 PM. Agree, put Trevor in charge of the blog, he seems good at PR.
Would be nice to constantly see posts with positive attitude of future and with backing of proof, not just nostalgic ventilation of personal feeling over past stuff happened and what the future is planning to hold. Last edited by cv643d on 09-Dec-2010 at 02:42 PM.

I must have missed something. Okay I missed AmiiWest but I didn't see this posted. So where was the official AmiWest report? |

I'd argue that that's not much news. 2 updates to the OS and a few future promises. Hopefully things will turn for the better now... _________________ Common sense - So rare it's almost like a super power |

Would it not be best to finish 4.1 before they announce a new version?
My personal guess is that we wont hear anything before after classic version has been released.Last edited by Tomas on 09-Dec-2010 at 05:15 PM.

That is correct.
The first priority is of course shipping Amiga OS 4.1 for the Classic and Sam460ex platforms but it shouldn't be too long after that._________________ ExecSG Team Lead |

I think one way to talk to customers is by shipping software. More frequent updates between major releases would help address this so work is being done in that area.
I like the idea of some kind of Amiga OS blog as well._________________ ExecSG Team Lead |
