It may be overpriced, it may be underpowered, but one thing is certain: A-EON has style!

@All

And all those who were less than complimentary about him and this mammoth effort to get a new machine worthy of the Amiga name should eat humble pie. I for one cannot wait for my X1000.

@Thom Holwerda

Tasty looking socks, for a tasty CPU….

Hope the cake is fresh and not 11 months old, as we all had to wait for this.

.... Take that Linux! Other platforms may have some advantages on us still, but only Amiga has edible boing ball socks!

Possibly the coolest, unofficial "press release" in computing history...

Yuk it up folks, but A-eon has only ten more days till "Late 2010" becomes "early 2011".
The CPU of the X-1000 may as well be unicorn-excreted skittles at this point. :>(

I would like to know if they have got new chips or they were used. There is nothing wrong with used CPUs, some Amiga 3rd party companies have used refurbished chips for their acceleration boards as well and according to records the first CPUs in the A1X1K were used chips as well.

OK, so now the part of the riddle is solved, as expected.

Being most powerful PPC CPU in production, its great news.

Compared to what exists, it`s not a lack of power, and price ...
is just not for the countries in development

But let`s have high end Amiga we can all be proud once again,
as well as EP460 as medium and EP440 as entry level.

However, entry level board with OS4 is at least 544 euros,
mid end 898 and high end system is ~2000 euros.

What we would need would be lowest possible model,
if EP440 price can`t fall then some Efika style board,
a bit more advanced.

Trevor, you're the man!

Keep the humour, in fact maybe it should be (or is it?) one of the founding rules of Aeon as a company... If it can be done with humour do so!

PA6T's CPU according to WikiPedia has Little/Big endian operation (bi-endian).

That means that porting to our platform will be a more easier task than now?

Or they have a machine to develop bi-endian version of AmigaOS which hopefully could mean easier support of many different architectures (well a little bit easier at least).
