My theory is this was a scam from day one because Deron knew Bill was excited about Aladdin 4D and could be taken advantage of. Most of the funds were requested up front, later platform payments would not be as much as the first platform completed.

I’m betting he figured he could put out a lackluster beta, request payment for the final version of the 1st platform then disappear. Little effort on his part and very little risk, and high profit. If he just ignored Bill after he got paid for the first version what could Bill do? Visit him in the boon docks in South Dakota?

Highly unlikely, the fact that he never provided any chanelogs or source code feeds into and validates this theory. For all we know he could have just had a junior programmer knock out the incomplete beta in a weekend? It’s really very sad and should not be done to the few companies left in this community.

Then you are the last one, I'll ask accounting about it again. Sorry I thought it was already fixed. It's on me though, nothing to bother Bill about.

@Tedd

As I posted on Amiga.org

Did you contact Chuck Washburn as I suggested?

@klx300r

Bill mentioned you, you are the one that asked for a refund way past the one year cut off. You got Aladdin 4D 5.x and should have asked for a refund sooner if that is what you wanted. You did not say anything for a long time. If you still want one please ask Deron. He is the reason you still don't have Aladdin 4D 6.0.

The money you used to pay for version 5.x was sent to Deron long ago.

Excuse me, could you please have the decency to shut up until slaapliedje confirms he has his money back? It's been more than 1.5 years now... This kind of behaviour is sickening, to say the least.

I'm sure Bill tried to contact Chuck #6. He tried everything to make this programmer scam artist happy. In the end a spade is just a spade.

Got to agree with Cgutjahr here. How about solving your own scams first before you call others scammers. Sofar only person who has verified being refunded was person who disputed payment with Paypal...

@DiscreetFX

I do not understand. Are there a signed contract and contract specifications? Then you could request repayment. Or was the money sent and said do it?

@slaapliedje

Unless I misunderstand Tedd's post, he's saying @klx300r needed to seek restitution from Deron and not from Discreetfx. Dunno if that is the position regarding anyone else.

Who was collecting the money? DiscreetFX? Or Deron?

And was obvious that the contract partner was Deron and not DiscreetFX?

Totally different situation and he will be refunded. I already asked for that to be approved.

@OlafS25

Dunno. Does this metaphor work or not?

When you buy a product defective from Walmart, it is YOU the purchaser who must track down the manufacturer. You have no right to return the product to Walmart. Heh.

At least here when I get money from customers I am responsible. I cannot say I gave the project and the money to XXX and all is gone now and the customers have to request it from XXX. From the legal side i am the contract partner not XXX. At least I understand it this way.

Keep in mind klx300r got Aladdin 4D 5.x which he gets to always keep and he failed to request a refund within one year which was the terms of the sale. Buy software at Walmart and try to return it.

@DiscreetFX

we have no walmarts here...

back to topic...

You cannot easily say you are not responsible for anything. It seems to be the typical "Amiga" legal mess without clear responsibilities and contracts and no clear message who does what. Even if it is for most people too complicated or expensive to request the money the "dirt" will also hang at you (and on Deron). Really a sad thing :(

klx300r failed to request a refund within one year which were the terms of the sale. Did no one grasp that concept?
