I guess Xena chip (XS1-L2-124QFN) is installed at minute 1:20 on video.

Wrong place on board. Xena goes in around 0:58 - 1:00.

I think you're looking at the AMD chip.

So how time does it take to produce 1.000 boards with such a machine?

That's right. Steve is the new Bill. Apple is the new M$. Mega closed source and wanting to control every part of the supply chain. Makes M$ look nice by comparison.

Congrats to the vendors and developers.. finally another step in production. However, it feels like we are at least another 6 months away from it being an actual user purchasable product. This thing needs to get out the door now!

So this means we should get some screenshots or some actual updates of os4 running on the boards?

I'm not being a fanboy, but there are good reasons for this. Being closed with everything they know exactly what they are selling. The security of the system seems to be superior as far as of today and for the end user it's just a better experience. It just works out of the box.
The Appstore isn't that bad of an idea either; with all the controls and restrictions they narrow the risk for the end user to get some malware or bad software.

And at the end, there is still choice.. if you don't like Apple there is Linux if you don't like that either.. well there is Microsoft.. or Android and Chrome Os..

@-Sam-

Apple support standards, creates ones usually without license fee. Mac OS X is unix based, really open minded OS with out-of-the-box standard support. Probably you are just one of the anti apple fanatic out there.

@thread

Love to see that machine in action! Good work Varisys

I really like watching those robot machines in action, bit sinister if you think of something like Terminator 2, but really cool none the less.

I hope we'll see some Nemo boards out to users soon.

Regards,
Rude!

I'm not talking about standards - I'm talking about the market ecosystem.

Without wanting to get into a huge 'why Apple is evil' debate. My point was that Apple close everything in the supply chain off to the point where Apple makes money out of everything. They take their cut from the app store and control the hardware which isn't necessarily a great thing for the software developer. No part of what Apple does is 'open' in the sense of the ecosystem word that I would describe it - it is all about far more draconian control methods than MS ever thought up.

When MS does well lots of other companies do well. When Apple does well then the growth share is far more limited. I read a really good article on this the other week but damned if I can find it now. I think it was on the thereg and it was a very good point.

Agree, Apple pretty much was worse than MS all along, except smaller ..
Now its soon the other way round .. ! Atleast about the size.

And about the video:

AWESOME !!! Truly fun to see that video, wish I had hardware designing skills and access to a machine like that ...

I bet the NatAmi guys would like one too

It is good to see new Amiga hardware its just a shame it is way way out of my price range and properly many others who would of liked a more modern Amiga system.
