@OP

I'll apologize for your topic getting trashed, but everyone knew it would.

@all

I'll also apologize to all old time posters wary of returning and new visitors who get scared to death to participate on the forums after seeing thread after thread that turns out like this one.

Apologies also to the author of "Is your position so weak that it cannot withstand a debate" which has been altered in amigaland to read "Is your position so weak that you must point out the weaknesses of others instead of pointing out your own strengths".

There are many people who knows how to read CPU specs, so if you call a hardware developer like ACube "unable of reading and understanding CPU specs" you are trolling agains a hardware partner / competitor.

@Arko

There is a difference between calling someone "unable to read and understand cpu specs" and stating that they don't know the details about a particular project made by someone else that has not been announced.

Unless you are misreading it on purpose.

As you can see from my post count I don't post very much, but I felt I should say a fey things now.

Firstly guys, get this in to perspective, it's a net book. It's not designed for power stuff, the X1000 and the Sam can do that ( or a pc/mac)

Secondly "if" it did have a high MHz CPU it would be more expensive and have a shorter battery life.

Just think of the impact this little machine could have. At 300-400 bucks its making me consider coming back and if we get to another 1000-2000 licences out there then it helps fund further development and perhaps the next gen could be the power house some of you want.

If you are really serious about this platform let them get on with it, those of us that like it will buy it. If you are not serious about the platform then go away!

Yay! A netbook which runs AmigaOS4! For $300-$500. Cool!

Thanks Hyperion, I'll almost certainly buy one at this price. I look forward to reading the specs when they're finalised.

PS Any chance of a tablet next please?

@retro

There are several threads. They just keep falling off the front page because no one has made any new posts.

Click "recent topics" link underneath the top 10.

I'm still surprised that nobody mentioned the netbook was Mr Solie's "one more thing" tribute to Steve Jobs in his speech.

I mentioned this in irc on #amigaworld - looks like I wasn't the only one who noticed...

First contacts for this were made at last year's AmiWest, and the project has now progressed up to a point where it can be called a project (.e. main adaption of vital components is done). What better place to announce something like that than on AmiWest ?

I thought the same thing when I saw this announcement on the web stream from Amiwest. Without a pic, a screenshot, a demo or anything there must be an element of this. however, morphos team does this too.. its a rivalry!

Lets say that the netbook would cost 350 with 400Mhz
and 450 with maxed 800Mhz processor, witch would you guys rather have?
I would gladly pay 100 more for dubbel the speed!

So lets hope that hyperion think about this, but I will bye the netbook even if it is
400Mhz

Considering they didn't revile the processorspeed its probably 400Mhz

@metalmac
I would be able to justify around $1500 if it was as fast as my G4@933 or better.
Although specs perhaps arent set in stone yet, I think cpu speed is defined by choice of CPU.

400Mhz is a bit on the slow side, but I'm glad we finally get something portable.

Yes, but if i havent understand wrong, the processor that everybody is talking about has 800Mhz as its upper limit, then it would be posible to order a moderboard with a 800Mhz processor wouldnt it?
