@Skuggan
Talk to liveforit. I think he was abt to port despotify or are we walking abt porting spotify itself? Another big step if we get it to OS4

@joeled

I looked into despotify and really the only thing we need is the protocol specification and that seem pretty straight forward.
Based on those specifications, either from spotify itself or the reverse engineerd ones from despotify we can do a library for AmigaOS or whatever? Have only one person from the community tried writing a this?

@joeled

Most of the open source spotify client’s depends on despotify, the gui part is spearted from client part, so building a GUI on top is no problem, the problem is whit the too old DNS API, and BSDSocket API is too old on AmigaOS, the next big problem is that despotify have implemented support for IP6 yet another component missing on AmigaOS4 TCP/IP stack, next OpenSSL I think is outdated.

I order to debug and improve this I will need access to RoadShow, and maybe so some work on it, I need a NDA.

@NutsAboutAmiga

If the problem is only based on what despotify requires like ipv6 then its not really a problem. We only need to know how to communicate with spotifys server, the protocol. Then we build a the amiga version of libspotify. I will call them and check if I can get the protocol specifications if I sign a NDA.

@Skuggan

Or just check the jotify sources. I don't think it has any dependencies on libspotify.

@flowi

Just looking at the despotify sources was enough to figure out how to communicated.
But I have mailed them now with an offer they can't refuse.
1. Either one of us we get the protocol description under NDA and develop libspotify for them to host on their homepage.
2. or they compile their engine for or OS:es

Option 1 costs them nothing and they get additional paying listeners.
win-win

I get back when I get an answer.

@Skuggan

Thank you for your activity, let's hope that result is good.
Spotify is great program and I just loved to see it on Amiga.
If it is necessary, I more than gladly pay some money too (again another AmigaBounty

@marko

More over...

Spotify is one of the reasons, I HAVE to keep another box started besides an Amiga...

Sometimes the ONLY reason, just so I can listen on Spotify...

While waiting for Spotify, mobile Grooveshark ought to work. I haven't tested myself, though.
