I wouldn't bet on that core ever entering production, but we'll see. There's a big risk that just a few years from now we'll (not so much the Amiga community, but the computing world in general) only have two choices, x86_64 or arm64.
Also, it seems noone will work, we'll all just be consumers. Dystopia here we come! _________________ This weeks pet peeve: Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). I must be blanking out. what SoM? As far as I can see right now I couldn't even buy the T series chips, as none of the active ones are in stock anywhere. unlike P series, which I can buy at digikey.
This whole thing is starting to depress me.
The T1 eval board is in stock at freescale, though. But mPCIe isn't all that awesome, and I would rather have more PCIe and the DIU wired to somewhere than 11 GbE ports _________________ This weeks pet peeve: Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). Do they say what SOM standard that is? I don't see anything stated clearly, so I cant tell if it's standard or if it's their own thing. I'd prefer a standard over a vendor-specific thing, and my personal favorite module standard is COM-Express. Freescale has a few of their P series evaluation systems as COM-Express format, even if they do deviate slightly from standard types, at least they document their flavor and have proposed it to PICMG to become part of the real standard, and as I understand, with some work, designers makign "Freescale type" modules can make them safe to put into type 6 standard carriers. _________________ All glory to the Hypnotoad! |
