@cgutjahr

I wasn't going to comment in this thread at this point as the childishness of it has gone over board.

However the factual inaccuracies also getting ridiculous.

The term "amigos" is mention 14 times in that article and the term linux only 12.

A large part of the blog focuses on AmiStore which is clearly aimed at AmigaOS (both 4.1 and 3.x apparently) another part on the upcoming AmiWest , which is focussed on all amiga related activity.

@thread

As to the logo and name debate, FFS grow up! It's just a computer, exact definitions of amiga and sizes of font doesn't matter.

I agree on that. I just pointed out the initial reason you gave ("offering options that can increase sales") is bogus IMHO.

@broadblues

I'm not sure why you're addressing me? #6 brought up Linux.

However the factual inaccuracies also getting ridiculous.

The blog entry contains a summary of recent Linux related activities. Nothing spectacular, but still a few things that happened in the last two months (new Kernel, MOL, Live DVD...). As far as OS4 related news are concerned, it's mentioned that some Cyrus betatester has made a video of the boot process - but we don't get to see the actual video.

Counting the Term "Linux" in the blog entry is a rather... interesting approach - I'll give you that. But wouldn't it make more sense to compare what the last real progress update (let alone actual progress) for AmigaOS 4 was, and how much Linux news you've seen from A1X camp?

(edit: typo)

actually we have got even more than that from the arix fb page, namely an actual video that it boots.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDCNZFPR1K8&feature=youtu.be
that said i do not consider any of the projects actually alive.. while i trust the aeon hardware will be available for linux in a due time.

@wawa

Just to be clear, since this thing seems to be dated months ago?

This is ARIX-OS booting on Cyrus?

No. It's Arix booting on a standard X86 motherboard.

Well, I hope you can understand my confusion, since wawa opened by quoting "Cyrus". Heh.

Good point

just a demonstration of what does it mean to talk about something vs actually proving it. however as you see on arix example, it does not actually prove anything to get a system booting with some os. it may take onother decade to get it out of the beta stage, right?

From Trevor's blog:

Meanwhile, based on our specifications to provide the user with a much more "Amiga-like" early start-up experience, Ultra Varisys have been customizing the Cyrus+ UBOOT firmware. It's all coming along very nicely

If this means what I think it does (fixing the EarlyStartup menu, etc), then..

At last, hope it turns out great!

Well it could boot. But I do not have a "Cyrus" with or without quotes. :)

well then, if someone sticks to alphabet as it is, namely a, b, c, d, ... z, he is a fundamentalïst, because he needs to accept that you come over with your own concept that it is a, c, f, t, r... as well as 5 x 5 = 8?

or quite the opposite, when someone against all odds keeps telling everybody 5 x 5 = 8 and prosecutes every resistance.
which of these is fundamentalism for you? frankly.

There's a reason why A.inc never produced an "Amiga" or even had a licensed one released.

I guess it's not just AW finding some of the latest blog controversial and/or worthy of discussion.

http://www.amiga-news.de/de/news/comments/thread/AN-2014-10-00028-DE.html

87 comments and growing. Heh.

Joe Torre.

It doesn't change the picture, if he was entitled to do such claims.

Aside this, the first sentence is technically correct, because it's obvious. I reported it only because it generically talks of porting AmigaDOS (sigh!) to whatever architecture.

The second is also correct, because I'm not aware of machines directly produced by Amiga Inc.. Do you?

It doesn't matter if they were older or "dreams" (which is your opinion here): they were OFFICIAL statements and plans.

In some cases, they included partnerships to achieve the goals.

And in some cases they also produced results; for example: http://www.amigahistory.co.uk/press/24oct2001.html

What's the problem here? You cannot cherry-pick only the part of the Amiga history that you like...

Yes, but the history shows that it was only the "second" (and very late) plan: recycling the (very) old Amiga o.s. to give something, a little toy, for the waiting users, while keeping the focus to the real, next, "big thing".
