18-Jul-12: Online store to close on July 31th, 2012

Due to personal reasons the Airsoft Softwair online store has to close at the end of July 2012. This means that no more orders can be processed after 31th July, 2012. Thus, everybody who doesn't own Hollywood or Hollywood Designer yet (or still needs the upgrade to the latest versions) should take the opportunity to secure himself a personal copy of this amazing multimedia software NOW because the store will go down on July 31th, 2012. The download versions are delivered instantly via email/WWW download and the CD versions of Hollywood and Hollywood Designer come in a nice digipak. Thank you for your continued support over the last 15 years!

Am I correct in thinking this is the end of Hollwood as we know it?
Or will there be some other way or ordering and the product still developed?

Rude!

Let's hope this just means "we see Hollywood later under a new brand". Otherwise it wouldn't have made sense to release the Android player. Or is he forced to close it that quickly because of legal problems??? Hope not ...

Now I need to decide if I should buy it as it has always been on my to buy list.

Have to say a reason would be nice, but I am sure there is good reasons, maybe product has been bought out due to its create on Windows and distribute everywhere functionality. Just hope not like Caligari, that got bought out and swallowed into Microsoft and pretty much lost.

@clusteruk

there are plenty of different reasons, "personal" is a wide field. Perhaps he will publish his reasons in near future. Best case would be redesign but why then closing the order page? I fear that this is the end of the product as a "amiga"-software.

Just noticed on there domain whois that some of the details changed on the 12/7/2012 so something must of happened then or changing

Is this the only distributor worldwide for Hollywood

Edit:

Ah seems the 12th was the date the Android version went live, either they now think the android revenue stream will be enough, but still how can people make the hollywood apps without the store.

@wawa

we cannot change it... just try to attract new users and opportunities (aeros...). But Andreas would be a big loss...

Same, was gonna buy it as soon as my AmigaOne arrived, to try out its game making functionality, but mostly to support the one succesfull commercial software package on Amiga. But perhaps it wasn't so succesfull after all? The "supporting" argument kinda falls flat now, if this is The End for the product on Amiga.

@OlafS25

not sure what has changed on the whois information, but its the last time it was updated.

Is Andreas on Amigaworld?

Would he think of letting some other organisation take over the shop/distribution?

I working as a volunteer at a computer charity who has its own dedicated server in germany, never know we could arrange a donation deal to run the shop

@Androxyn

besides "supporting" it is still a great product and worth the buy. I already have Hollywood 5.0 and the previous version of Designer and will propably buy the update of Designer in the next days. Really a pity...

Ok, but this press release doesn't say that Hollywood is discontinued or abbandoned, but that is not possible to buy it after july 31th..

Maybe there will be some change for the future.. who knows... Btw i don't think Andreas will stop the developing of Hollywood, otherwise he would have never released the new plug in for android system few days ago.. Hollywood is become even bigger than ever and exists for a lot of platform.. imho..

@nubechecorre

phrases like "closed for indefinite time" and "Thank you for your continued support over the last 15 years!" sound very much like goodbye. But I hope he will clarify the situation, at least the "news" is not clear enough.

I don't think there is any need to panic at the moment, it does only say the online store is closing and not development.

So panic not.

Absolutely, which is why I phrased the original post as questions and didn't try and be sensationalist with the thread title, I'm genuinely interested in the future of this product.

I've just upgraded to the latest versions as well, love this program.

Regards,
Rude!

Latest update was 5 days ago (Player for Android) and Andreas replied himself in the thread... if your software isn't profitable or you're going bankrupt isn't something you discover in 5 days so, the reasons may be others, like Airsoft sold to another company or just changing shop/distributor.
