Hello there!

First, let me introduce myself. I'm a 36 years old engineer from Canada. I'm specialized in networking and electronic design.

Since i'm 8 years old, i'm a Commodre fan. The fan grew up but still, the passion is alive.

Doing my part for the retro community, I decided to build a full production of USB joystick adapter for Atari / Commodore / Amiga compatible joysticks.

This adapter is recognized right a way by Windows and OSX and can be use with any emulator or game

Thanks guys! Seems like a nice 'Miga community!

I have many retro projects on the oven. One of these is repairing my 4000/40. It sadly stopped working a month ago.

I'm also building some more USB to joystick adapters. One of them is an universal board that accept literally all joysticks that exists; NES/SNES/N64/GC/PS/Sega/Atari/CPC... The proto works so it should be in production beginning of next year.

Hello Darth,

It's easy.

If you still have the A500 connector, just connect the corresponding +5, +12 and -12 pins to the atx PWR and cable a switch for the power-on.

You can look at a local electronic surplus store for a mini ATX power supply that could fit into the old amiga casing.

I also tested some Cisco 1700 power supplys that provide the right power pins with the right amperage.

Hum... So that would be the opposite. I beleive there is some good code out there from the V-USB website. Taking my hardware and modify it to be an USB host instead of an USB device wouldn't be a big issue. Juste need then to replace the male connectors for female.

Unfortunately, I don't have lot of time on my hands right now to do that coz I had a little daughter lately. Maybe some time next year...

Sounds like these don't have the horrible lag that even the new (afaik) Competition Pro USB's have, which makes them practically useless as USB joystick.

So remove the useless USB logic, replace cable with 9pin atari-style joystick cable (which is the only thing they were good for anyway) and connect to this, and it should finally be usable as USB joystick

The other "one for all" adapter project sounds like a must-get aswell.

No, what he says is "it works as a standard USB HID device"

After that, the operating systems USB stack needs to support it, and then, the game needs to support the input method it gets mapped to.

No idea about OS4's USB support, but on MorphOS you can either map it to lowlevel.device joystick unit (default) or certain keypresses, so it's possible to get it working even with games that don't support joysticks.

By the way, if you ever make some kind of adapter that plugs into 9pin joystick port, this kind of 9pin connector won't do. At least on Amiga 600, there's no extra space on the right side of the joystick port. That's why f.ex. Micromys cannot be used in the 2nd port without modifications (shame, there are some rather nice two player games that support 2 mice, Hired Guns, The Settlers, Lemmings...)

Of course no problems with this adaptor, as it goes "the other way around"

I have one of those and I have had no lag from it. So I don't know what you mean with it. The only thing I found dodgy is that the auto fire switch is set to on when you get it.

Happy new year!!!

I had some spare time during my christmas vacation. I built a 2.0 version of the software. It now supports USB reflashing so you can reprogram it with a new software as you wish. It could be to support a new version or different hardware. You can build your own if you want!

For example, I built a version that support the Amiga Mouse and is detected by Windows like a standard mouse. Possibilities are now wider opened, keeping the same hardware.


I'm currently working on a firmware that will support CD32 controllers (6 buttons). If there is beta testers or developpers out there, I'd be happy to assist.
