What... you mean Amiga users can actually read in the first place... well I never... (least judging from some of the replies posted in this place)...
Seriously though... I never understand why people give credit to some famous rich geezer with more money than he could ever spend in his lifetime for giving away a tiny fraction of it (and I don't just mean Bill Gate, I mean all of them the Trumps etc...)
Simple fact is... over 98% of all money given charitably worldwide is given by your average member of the public... so if anyone should be praised or given credit it's the public which most likely includes yourself, so give yourself a bit of credit and forget about some rich numptie whom had to be reluctantly forced to do so... _________________

Rose may not be a native English speaker, but seems to do quite well. So I was really taken aback when I read that off the wall response._________________ Moxee AmigaOne X1000 AmigaOne XE G4 I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong. |

I thought as much but just to clarify....
I was commenting on your post which said...
Quote:
"True Amiga answer to completely misread what I wrote" |
and my reply was simply commenting that on forums such as these where almost anything we type can and often does lead to someone "misreading"/ "misunderstanding" it or reading something into your words that simply wasn't intended or even there, often makes me wonder if some folks can read very well at all...
Prime example the post you just made where you were "taken aback" by my post and obviously misunderstood it...
PS: I've always been able to understand all of Roses posts and have no reason to think that English isn't her native language.... _________________

No, I was taken aback by Rose's post.
Maybe, I am part of the problem by not making myself clear. Could be my tired, old brain. _________________ Moxee AmigaOne X1000 AmigaOne XE G4 I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong. |

I actually like the panels more than the stupid flop up ball that listed your Applications/Program Files folder in some random order. |

Err sorta. We see this all the time. Companies integrate their 'old' product's functionality into their new product. This keeps the money flowing as users get on the constant cycle to upgrade.
It's different from say - Bob, which died naught to return.
In Microsoft news the US Dept of Defense just signed a $617 Million Enterprise Agreement. Which does make some sense as many of the Security Audits are showing Windows 8 to be the most secure OS built. http://www.itproportal.com/2012/07/31/will-windows-8-be-the-most-secure-os-in-town/

I just got Windows 8 on a new PC and so far I think I like it. The "desktop" is almost exactly the same as Windows 7 except it lacks the Start Button. It isn't nearly as incompatible as I feared. I am still installing my "apps". Evidently the word "program" is out of vogue. They are "apps" now. It's strange thinking of Lightwave as an "app". On a related subject, my new PC cost $400 and has a 64-bit processor, 4 GB's RAM, a TB hard drive, Windows 8, lots of other goodies. I bought it at Best Buy. It was about as hard as picking up a loaf of bread. The difference is they don't ask you if you want an extended warranty on your loaf of bread. _________________ X5000 / microA1(OS4.1 FE U2) / CodeBench / Imagine / Blender Lightwave 2019 / Microsoft Visual C++ |

Rule n.1 for junior fundamentalists: If you put so much effort in bashing the main product from company X, then you can't just relax and be caught off guard with secondary products!
Such as this case, where you've proved that you can't read the simplest article, thus discrediting whatever you'll say in the future.
Seriously, it takes a fourth grader to understand that the linked article states. Which translates to "We had messenger (400 millions users), now we bought Skype (600 millions users), users are overlapping, so we're merging the two products".
Your interpretation: "another ms product *bites the dust*". Embarassing.
If anything, I would have posted this story on an amiga-related board to hint at fruitful mergers where users of two partially different "camps" of an area of interest with some differences - are brought together by a third, strong part. Imagine a world where Hyperion can, say, buy Morphos or viceversa Last edited by resle on 12-Jan-2013 at 11:53 PM.

It's no big deal to you that MSN Messager has been killed. But it is a big deal for many that use 3rd party client messaging apps that link into MSN Messager. For those users it is an inconvenience and problem since their apps don't support Skype. _________________ Sent from my Quantum Computer. |

funny, I thought you were triumphant but now you sound concerned?
Also: please do not skip over the fact that you severely misinterpreted the article you linked. That, you know, was the point of my message. |

Welcome to 21C Journalism. Rule #1 - Sensationalist Headlines.
Got you to read it, didn't it?
And in the strictest sense, MSN Messenger did bite the dust, like NetMeeting and many other neglected MS applications before it.
