Apparently the idea of cases was a good one, based on the info coming from the C64C case folks.

It seems as if just the other day they had 500 pledges. Now they seem to have near 500 pledges for EACH of 3 colors.

Going unnoticed since March 30, 2015 is this odd, out of the blue, statement from CommodoreUSA on facebook about their contacts:

Considering the lies CUSA came out with during their short run, I wouldn't believe a word off their site. If you don't know what I mean then I have a factory in China to sell you with hundreds of thousands of motherboards on pallets.

We all know why they went for "COS" which was just lipstick on a pig. It was because Linux was free. AROS needed funding to develop drivers and how long did they plan on waiting for an x86 port of OS4?

Would love a replacement set of keycaps for a C128, since one I bought on ebay many years back was missing a few keys with others broken - which was a pity as the machine itself worked perfectly.

The first 128 I got had an impeccable looking board and case, but wouldn't boot. Took me years to get an eeprom burner and suitable chips to replace the ROMs. Sadly the programmer only worked on XP so I can't use it any more, but the newly burnt ROMs fixed the broken C128 so I was happy

Just going from memory here, but the thread links are above.

He hasn't discussed anything definitive regarding anything other than C64c, but I don't think they've ruled out working on the other models.

I'm ignorant here. Are the keycaps vastly different on each model?

Speaking of false. The reason why AROS was dropped was because of legal reasons. CUSA was a licensee of A.inc. Within the restraints of the settlement no licensee of A. Inc can use an OS that is substantially similar to AmigaOS. That is why Ben instantly started posting on the forums about how he would be in contact with his "American lawyers".

Really? I remember a lot of posts about how drivers were needed and CUSA wasn't prepared (or offering) to fund them. I also recall later posts by CUSA on how AROS basically wasn't suitable in its (then) current state.

No mention at all of license issues. I'll stand by my comment: They didn't want to pay for anything so they stuck a rather basic coat of paint on an existing Linux distro and tried to hype it up.

AROS wasn't ready then to be launched as a sole OS on a retail PC and it isn't ready now either. CUSA only had two sane options and those were Linux or Windows. As the hardware was already grossly overpriced then Linux was a good option. The downside was that you then had to explain why you were selling the world's most expensive Linux PCs to tech savvy people who could build their own ones for a fraction of the price, which is probably why there was a feeble attempt to make it sound like a completely new OS. Then you have people who just have no interest in Linux and who would want Windows (yes, such people exist). While the website talked about Windows as an option, I didn't actually see where you could order a machine with it pre-installed. Considering the complete lack of official technical support, perhaps they didn't want to install OEM versions of Windows because they didn't have the resources to keep a phone manned 24 hours a day.

Thanks for digging that stuff up. I knew I wasn't mistaken.

I wouldn't mind a C64 reloaded mobo. My original C64 from my childhood (old UK breadbox) has a dead port. Needs to be in a new thread though as it has nothing to do with CUSA. I guess Jens will make a big announcement when it is closer to being ready.

Agree. If I get the time and motivation, I'll copy some of the relevant bits into general tech, since there isn't a C= forum on AW.

At least it's currently in a thread with a central theme though - Projects threatened by perceived owners of IP. (evil grin).

To continue that theme though, would give me an even bigger job, if I had to copy all projects threatened by Amiga Inc., Hyperion, Commodore Holdings, etc. into this thread.
