Heck I still regret selling my old Blizzard030 card all those years ago so not a chance in hell I'd give up my Amiga 1000 never mind my AmigaOne X1000

Damn, I'm with you on that one! I totally regretted selling my Blizzard 1230 MK-IV (boxed) for a pittance and a swap many years ago. I got one back though - couldn't resist.

Ceck on amigakit site. There should be a way to put the x1000 i the basket and order it. Don't remember how right now. As long as orders are made machines will be sold.

@DFergATL

I was in a similar situation. My A1 died,so I started saving up, but never managed to get anywhere close to the amount I needed.

Had 2 options:

-continue to save and wait for the next batch,
-spend the money elsewhere.

I decided to spend elsewhere, namely on a new Mac Mini. It was about 30% of the X1000 price, so I bought quite a few extras.
It was the best decision I ever made.

Yes, I still miss the Amiga, but the Mac Mini is so ahead of it that it's been less and less difficult to live without AOS.

The continuous "will they?/won't they?" and the incredibly high price of the X1000 boards was too much for me and I let go.

@electric-magic

Thats the link yes.

@brandonLee

Or you could have gotten for the cheaper sam460.

But then again, all know that the amiga is for hobbying. It can do many things but won't become mainstream again. Won't matter to me. As i find amigaos to be fun.
And i have a win7 machine for serious things.
But then again, i bet you could have got an win7 machine cheaper than that.

All X1000 are sold out. If you are on the list we will contact you and invite you to check out with the X1000. The X1000 is only available to customers who have requested to buy last year up to the batch limit.

If anyone on the list drops out we will offer it to the next customer.

There will more developments from A-EON in the future to address the supply contraints of AmigaOS 4 hardware. Watch this space.

@Antique

I fully understand the Amiga is a hobby. Yet, it was always my sole machine. I dislike "jumping" between two machines.
I sort of got accostumed to the Amiga's inadequacies and lived happily with them. But it got to a point where I couldn't justify it anymore.

And, as a hobby, it's hugely overpriced.
I can see someone with a big bank account saying "what the hell, I'll buy and never look back".
But for the "real world", it's not an option. And this hurts because many programmers are not rich and won't be able to afford the machine even if they want to program on it.

Take a fraction of your money and get yourself a Powerbook G4 and/or a PowerMac G5 and run MorphOS on those systems. Cool Amiga NG experince, potent file browser inbuild, free updates, friendly community and much cash left.

Or get a Sam460. Not too powerful, but good enough for much stuff. And best of it: Soon you'll be able to run all three Amiga NG systems on it (AROS, OS4.x and MorphOS).

Partly true, indeed. I guess every partial community has it's individuals and key words that trigger some certain behaviour. All in all I think relation between MorphOS and OS4.x has bettered a lot over recent years. Acceptance has increased.
And I want to emphasize that I think most ppl in the entire amigaworld (whatever flavour in particular) are mostly friendly and helpful.

A-eon prepares successor to X1000.

I don't see the point of that. The X1000 still has not had a full public release yet. And likely won't be until OS4 fully supports the hardware.

Until the X1000 is complete and out in public I don't see the point of creating another machine that has no OS4 drivers for on board hardware. Unless it has UBoot to ease the pain.

It is simple. Cost of PA6T CPU is now prohibitive. If A-eon wants to sell computers, new motherboard design is needed. P3041/5020 based computers could be cheaper and in some aspects more powerful than X1000.

@pavlor

In that case getting a board designed is not the way to go I think. Apart from unsupported components which should not have happened you are at the mercy of the designer and in this case a router firmware was stuck on the board! The X1000 is a desktop computer, not a giant router!

I think a reference design should be chosen and then customised. For exxample what ACube have been doing. But not increasing the speed by only 215Mhz and loosing AltiVec. That's going backwards. Against a Pegasos it's worse, 15Mhz increase in clock speed, wow! But at least they have UBoot.
