@pavlor

My guess is most of the OS, runs just integer, while you might have some FPU instruction in the math libraries and graphics, my guess is that most of the OS will do just fine.

I remember reading that those missing instructions could be trapped and emulated.

Anyway all that wouldnt really matter if its never finished.

Is that week, this week? or, "two week" TM.

@coriolis

Never heard of it. Give up and buy products that you can physically buy right now rather than waiting for vapourware

Remember Troika? What a waste of time following the Amy '05 project was!

Wouldn't it be possible to make an adaptercard to connect an A1200 turboboard to a A4000 cpu slot ? So an future accelerator would fit both machines ? You would have bigger market.

@Comi

The last news: they have a low priority on the project.

I take that conclusion after de the last emails with both authors.

The second email I send to them got now response, their website isn´t update for months, so think about a very low priority...

@bennymee

I think that they are hit in the wall with proccesor and redesign...
Project status on site, is very optimistic...and then, they got in the problems...and, bye bye
Strange thing is that they response to you and not on the site...
If project is not in priority, any way there will be something new, after a year..but...I think that project is over...

@Comi

i hope the project was fun for them so far, marketing it could turn up nightmare. it is a very tough job to release and support hardware i imagine. thumbs up for those who do and soliladarity for those who resign, even if it is a disapointment.

@wawa

I'm sure the big problem was not the hardware but the software drivers and compatibility...
Driver for the videoboard, driver for the sata, the driver for the lan and the library for the 68k CPU
Plus will be needed a special recompiling for os4 for this board I think like hyperion made for Sam,classic,amigaone, pegasos and x1000..,

Will see probably the project isn't dead only they are encountering big difficulties

@tlosm

I hope so, but there's no info even about redesign...so i doubt... drivers are next step and we don't have info about first...

@tlosm

You are right, drivers are complicated to write...

I can adapt for free the 68040.library from the A3640 & WarpEngine to this new UltimatePPC...

Because I have updated it : http://cosmosunivers.free.fr/download/68040library.readme

More to come...

@CosmosUnivers

great job (why you not send to the ultimateppc an email ?i think they will need help) ,
but ... Ok have the 040.library for the Os 3.9 but there is another problem there
Warpos compatibility for the PPC side..
Plus another big problem the gfx card will use Picasso 96 or cgx? (hope cgx )

Probably for the PPC os i dont know if this team contact hyperion for made the porting of the Os4 classic for this HW or if they contact the Mos team for the same reason...

the only one who can say to all the community if this project is still alive are the Hyperion or Mos team because if they dont recive a dev board means the ultimate ppc team never finish the project.

@tlosm

the project is (in my view) as dead as Natami. There are the typical amiga-project-stages here as in other examples where someone claimed to have rewritten and run AROS 68k on coldfire (and then after making some dust and vanished) or another developer who asked on amiga.org what hardware people want and then vanished (after being almost offended that some where sceptical). Retroprojects need a lot of work and you cannot earn much money with it so after the euphoric phase and showing up on forum they realize how difficult and time consuming it is and silently give up.

So typical stages:
1.euphoric phase
2.showing up in forum
3.realize the difficulties/stuck in problems
4.silently dropping it

In "UltimatePPC" they did wrong calculations so they propably needed to redesign the whole board.

That costs a lot of money and time and only low sales (expecially if only targetting A3000/A4000) so they reached stage 4.

There are sadly only few exceptions like FPGA Arcade. TiNA-project is different because it is no retro-hardware.
