@kolla

In that case somebody should wake them from their dreams and advise them to invest in a possible future instead of waiting around until that future is past.

Open hardware. A developers dream come true. Check the link below around 2:35 into the video. Thats how to support users.

@AmigaBlitter

Did not (at First) notice anything Power Architecture related on that page.
(just xeon based microservers)

But here:
http://hiro-microdatacenters.nl/product/hiro-zx3000

T4240 PPC based product.

More: https://www.nxp.com/video/:INTERVIEW-RONALD-LUIJTEN-T4240

So... one box has 1536 cores (768+virtual cores). "Cool" "Amiga" if we had multicore support.

@AmigaBlitter

I wished Raptor made a single-socket Power9 motherboard. The CPU's are actually very decently priced, but the motherboard is very expensive!

@WolfpackN64

I did read somewhere(?) that a solution has been found to use all the PCIe slots with only one POWER9 on the Talos 2 board. If that is true then it would bring down the cost of the present board.

For desktop use there are many lower cost cards that may be just the ticket and still allow dual CPUs for the POWER hungry. Time will tell.

"And an idea of price ? 😀😀😀"

"We think you'll be pleasantly surprised on the cost. Just remember, we're not talking something as large / powerful as the Talos II, so you may still want to consider a Talos II for the heavy backend game development work, then deploy to the smaller machines. Just a thought 😉"

@AmigaBlitter

Here are more views of SUMMIT computer.

I like the backside view in the sixth one down the page. And,,,, what's that! A full 9 pin serial port?

Silly IBM, don't they know 'Nobody uses serial ports in this day and age'.

@Signal

I use RS-232 to this day, and when not provided, I use USB to RS-232 converters to get it.
