I love emulator and emulation and it will be interesting to more speak about emulation on all Amiga scene.

So, What emulator or emulation you prefere?

1) Do you prefere emulate old 8 bit systems (computers or consoles)
2) Do you prefere emulate 16/32 systems (computers or consoles)
3) Do you prefere emulate strange and unknown systems?

----------------------

I have any types of emulation/emulators for any situations, but you?

@tlosm

this thread should be have a poll about emulation and emulators preferred by users.
i tried to make a poll without success..:(
You posted only qemu, but you have to post your experince with all emulators that you prefere and what emulators such as: Commodore 64, MSX, Spectrum, Playstion, NeoGeo, ecc ecc.

And of course, if you want, some image or video with emulator in action with games or with other software.

i change the first post

Oh ok ... The first two images was MacOs X 10.5.8 ppc with Qmu 2.0 on my Quad G5 2.5 ghz :P not really fast for now the best (and not optimized) is Virtual PC 7.02
Soon i will install the kvm kernel on Linux side for enjoy better virtualization with Qemu

Second was euae (not jit) on AmigaOS 4.1 ... Pegasos2 machine ;)

Video was simple to understand because was explained on it :)

@Seiya

I use many emulators, but I like most these:

ASP (ZX Spectrum/128 emulator - high compatibility and works even on classic Amiga)
UAE (DOSUAE, E-UAE and of course WinUAE)
DosBox (mainly for Windows, but tried also AROS, AmigaOS 68k and Haiku/BeOS versions)
QEMU (to play Dungeon Keeper in high detail - GOG version uses only low reolution )
ShapeShifter (I ever liked design of classic MacOS over MacOS X ).

My favourite DosBox pictures:

DosBox 68k in WinUAE (runing Dungeon Keeper for DOS).

DosBox for AROS (runing Windows95 and Stronghold Crusader).

@Seiya

I'd like to emulate Amiga500 to play pinball dreams and use Noisetracker
Also NES 8-bit is interesting, but I think my Wii emulates it better.

Wonderful Christian...
One small question do you have an increment of general speed with Kvm on the X86 emulated systems? Im really curious about :P
Without Kvm on my G5 on Lubuntu the overall performance are not too much different compared not kvm qemu on my I7 mac book pro retina (late 2012)

nbench gava me G5 = 1.67 interger compared Amd 233 mhz
nbench gave me I7 = 2.70 integer compared Amd 233 mhz

I know the Kvm is for better cpu virtualization but i think video usb audio can take an advantage with it

Another think where hell i can found mac on linux working for Lubuntu!?!!? there is an aptitude repository ?

Only "PR" KVM for PowerPC guests works on the A1-X1000. X86 systems can't use KVM on the A1-X1000. Lubuntu 14.04 PPC works fast as KVM guest on my A1-X1000. Mac-on-Linux works with "PR" KVM but Mac OS X doesn't boot.

Unfortunately, there isn't an aptitude repostitory. You have to compile a new kernel with KVM support as kernel modul. And then you have to compile Mac-on-Linux self.

Download Mac-on-Linux with KVM support:

Quote:
svn checkout svn://svn.code.sf.net/p/mac-on-linux/code/trunk mac-on-linux-svn

For A1-X1000 user:

Download kernel 3.14.2 with KVM support: vmlinux-3.14.2-KVM-PR-AmigaOneX1000.tar.bz2

For example Lubuntu 13.10 PPC with "PR" KVM on my A1-X1000:

I think it give you more satisfaction to emulate MacOS from OS4, OS3, MOS or AROS.

Lubuntu 14.04 PowerPC with "PR" KVM enabled on QEMU is faster on my A1-X1000 than Lubuntu 14.04 PowerPC on QEMU on my 2.93GHz quad core PC. That's amazing.

@xeno74

Yes this is for sure with kvm the cpu guest is virtualized by the cpu host pratically isnt emulated :P

This why the only way for know the effective performance of qemu in totally emulation is use qemu-system-i368 -cpu pentium -no-kvm -m 2047 -hda /linux-0.2.img and run the nbench :P
For now on the PowerPc system the best emulator is VirtualPC 7.02 and on G5 dual/Quad is really not optimized but make me run old windows games like Gorky 17 or Quake at a good speed :)
Example quake timedemo 2 on Vpc is 30fps at 640x480 :P and is the software rendering not Gl (there isnt gl on vpc) and isnt multi threading and run only on one cpu of the G5 Quad
i had 47 fps on Xe G4 933 with quake software rendering
and 61 fps on Sam 460ex 1017mhz

Im really curious how much is the qemu nbench result on the x1000 :)
