@damocles

At the moment it's under appeal as stated by Hyperion and backed up by Birbo's findings.

@damocles

How long is this thread going on for. Good job I held back back on my copy of OS 4.1FE for classic. Why bother putting money into a dead horse I had hope for Amiga OS 4 but with this news all my hope has been lost un-less Aeon or somebody else buys Hyperion and continues the developement of OS4. Hopefully at a faster pace than Hyperion have. Dont get me wrong they have done a great job with OS 4 but it does seem to be stuck in a rut now. NO full 3D support no Multi core no office suit the list goes on.

@g01df1sh

I'm not sure why the current situation would have any bearing on such a small purchase with no promise of further updates aside from any critical bug fixes.

@thread

Lets have some perspective.

Around 1993, I was thinking, "Commodore is gone! The Amiga will stop being developed! All is lost!"

Around 1996, I was thinking, "Escom is gone! The Amiga will stop being developed! All is lost!"

Around 1999, I thought, "Gateway has dropped the Amiga like a lead balloon! All is lost!"

It is now 2015. The Amiga may have had several owners, but we've had 3.5, 3.9, 4.0, 4.1, and now 4.1 FE. A-Eons plans seem hopeful and exciting. Acube keep bringing out new hardware. Amiga has been through far far worse times than these. All is not lost folks.

I don't care what they say. Bankruptcy is never a "misunderstanding". They already have a terrible reputation for not paying developers. Looks like someone took them to court to be paid. That is not a misunderstanding, that is caused by not paying your debts and refusing any out of court settlement option. I work in corporate credit, and I can tell you that all companies exhaust every possible alternative to get paid before taking legal actions. Its always the last resort, always.

The bankruptcy brings up many questions, the first I would have is the last upgrade.

Was that a money grab? Sure, looks like it was. And lets not forget all upgrades to 4.2 were supposed to be free, yet they changed their mind and did the money grab for the last upgrade. Why not keep your word to your users?

What about all the people who paid 3,000$ for an x1000 that were promised 4.2 upgrade for free so they could use both cpu cores in the machine? Do they get a refund or partial refund if they never get the upgrade now?

The whole way this company has done business seems strange. Okay, we are a
software company, but we do not actually own any of the code from our flagship product. We don't even own the kernel.

We hire subcontractors to do all the work, then we don't pay them.
We go back on our word about upgrades.
We refuse to port our most popular product to platforms the users actually want.
We claim AROS is "probably illegal", yet we take code from them for our own use.
Our OS is so incredible, yet it only runs on 10 year old spec hardware that is slower
and less capable than most people's phones.
We refuse to publish sales figures of our OS. No one is allowed to know how many
Os4 users there actually are in the world.

I just don't understand Hyperion. I never did. I probably never will.

As the boing ball turns continues I guess...

No official statement till now. I hope that someone will come and clean things up.

Is Hyperion together with AmigaOS 4 officially dead and the game is over? If not, then we will stick with AmigaOS 4 as till now, otherwise it's time to go back to the roots (68k AmigaOS 3.9).

Thanks Pavlor. I suppose it will be so long as I'm allowed to speak freely without getting censored by Hyperion, AEON or AmigaKit.

Am I allowed to say my phone is faster and more capable than the x1000 here? (Because it is)

See post 60 in this thread, best you can get now.

If I read (thanks google) linked info correctly, claims against Hyperion can be filled up to 4 March 2015. So I wouldn´t expect further informations until early March.

Edit: "Date of filing claims: to within the period of thirty days from the date of delivery of the judgment at" (I assume that date is since 27 Januar 2015?)

amiga os ng is amiga iff out think the only amiga is the amiga from commedore you dont belong here. morphos was a let go ppc project while we waited for the offcial amiga to go ppc now when wee have amiga ppc there is no reason for morphos. let it go. aros is a nice experimental project thats gives os amiga classics to cheap x86 hardwere and others.

about the case here. i hope hyperion release some softwere and make a small statement that wee will have a bigger statement later.becuse as i see it its a stop for os 4.1 sales and it hurts acube and aeon too... so please ben hermas realease a little hallo world.exe file and then tell us this woundt be the end of os 4.2....

I have an Acer Aspire E1-572 model running Linux now, with Intel Core i5, Intel HD 4400 gfx, 4GB DDR3 RAM. Is this 100% compatible with AROS?

I don't know what the wireless driver is. Probably Atheros?

@Phantom

You can use AROS hosted or virtualised (eg. in QEMU).

However, I´m no AROS expert, just ordinary user.

@haywiresystem

OS and Hardware performance aside, the whole issue about paying debt and salaries resonates with me.
Ive seen leaders jump thru hoops and serve flat out lies that everyone sees right thru, just to save a nickle.

As for performance of AOS, the X1000 hardware specs seems good enough to do quite well, but the software/driver side leave it underutilized. I was just watching Kookytechs youtube regarding his new Raspberry pi 2, and caught myself thinking "man, a 25 quid device outperforming top of the line AOS hardware".
I realise its all about the drivers, but developers needs to get paid to deliver.

I don't want virtual nonsense. Better try Icaros Desktop 2.0.3 from CD-ROM to see what will happen.

Who cares whether Hyperion is bankrupt or not. W/o Hyperion it cannot get much worse. Really, what would be the difference? OS4 development is impressingly slow , programmers are not being paid, key parts of the OS are not owned by Hyperion anyway (e.g. Exec SG). What's Hyperion needed for at all? Really, I don't care too much about OS4, but if Hyperion finally went bust I don't see that impacting OS4 too much. Others will come and take over what's there to take over. Aeon and Amigakit come to mind.

But the drama is great. Bring on the crisps and booze!
