So, the idea has been floated, perhaps there might be enough content for another show, especially with regards to the recent Aros 68k development there ought be enough for atleast a segment or two, perhaps the fact that the world is obviously ending (no, im not talking about fukushima poisoning the pacific in its entirety, but rather the fact that Microsoft is now more open then amiga!?) in any way it apparently might be a talking point.

I'd like some guests, mostly interviewed by our professional Rich, tho interrupted abruptly by preferably an impossible question. Any ideas?

So it would go something like this:
* fpga amigas. Is the vampire/majesta doing jit or emulation? (and is it faster then euae ppc jit, which may be ported to Arm. etc)
*morphos, progressing nicety, new supports, including x2000, moving to arm?
*os4, we can actually run it now, even debug applications, if you prefer defile such a marvellous OS by running the pesky filthy code.
* Trevor, how did he run off with all of gods money. Why did he not buy hyperion? (and atleast open source cli/vincEd)
* cloanto, owned, sweetness! (congratulations!) - so they own everything now and are providing updates to workbench 3.x
* amiga.org, now not owned by Wayne, again, we think.
*where is Bill Buck?
* a four hour prequel docu/drama explaining why the number6 is not actually a number at all but rather a trans dimensional spooky unstable sparticle.

*poll goes here
Amiga.roundtable, when?
1) I didn't know it halted
2) amiga what table?
3) now
4) I'll give you a while and pray you come up with something that doesn't break the world so Much
5) yesterday
6) we'll do it live!

Apparently Eddie is up for it, but his concern is whether Rich would be:

Source

Let me know if you decide to do this.

If you decide to take user questions, we can either collect questions here on AW, or through a dedicated irc channel, similar to what was done for the irc moderated sessions at Ashachat.

I'm up for it too, just tell me when and where. Bahamas sounds like a good place to broadcast live from.

Any input is good at this point, many of us haven't been paying all that much attention lately, and stuff has changed around quite a bit, for instance remember we had Gunnar and Thomas on a few years ago regarding the then natami, that since morphed twisted and grown into several incarnations as far as I can tell, yet the main goals seem pretty unchanged, though there certainly is a story to be told on how that transpired.

Rich was positive to the idea, but so are the rest of us, the issues with time, lives and livestock for that matter, be it two or four legged don't always tend to agree despite our best intentions, I can say as much For Rich that he'd probably do a show between labours given the chance, no doubt, but he certainly needs time to cut the cords and figure out which crait the newborns go.

One almost has to assume were all hideously mal-informed and horribly out of date, weren't watching during the miracles and need basic input.

Given that AmigaRoundTable has missed quite a few years of "news", perhaps you should limit the number of topics, after creating an initial list of those you believe are most relevant.

The idea of guests:
If this was still a weekly endeavor, that would be fine, but I'm not sure it's a good idea after the long layoff and the idea of this show being an all-in-one reunion covering many topics.
Having a guest usually means the show is timewise dominated by that one guest and that one storyline the guest has to tell.

You're also indicating you have to kinda relearn your system, so I'd suggest keeping it simple.

Just my 2¢

reading your post im no sure is it a poetic one?
for example:
Quote:
* fpga amigas. Is the vampire/majesta doing jit or emulation? (and is it faster then euae ppc jit, which may be ported to Arm. etc)

what has fpga to do with jit? how would you implement jit between different architectures in fpga? i mean perhaps the misunderstanding is, treating fpga as software emulation? in any case it would be helpful to have the background and terminology cleared up in advance.

Quote:
morphos, progressing nicety, new supports, including x2000, moving to arm?

i guess you mean x5000, however with naming practices of os4 addressed hardware i understand it is difficult to keep track of a sensible approach.

Quote:
*os4, we can actually run it now, even debug applications, if you prefer defile such a marvelous OS by running the pesky filthy code.

again, what does it mean being "even able to debug applications" under such "a marvelous os". is it supposed to be funny? while having no applicable debugging options seems a nightmare of all these post-amiga operating systems.

and so on.-..

That makes sense, there's loads of ground to cover, just summing up and recapping the last few years would probably eat up a lot of time done correctly, we could most probably spend an entire show covering just a few of the topics that have come up recently, though our opinions are just that, something to substantiate our preposterous ramblings might be best served with substance.

I guess this thread would be best spent gathering talking points and news items, there are certainly developments I could go yapping on in infinity.

* morphos on x2000
*os4 fe && bugs
*mui4 (ish) for os3 etc
*state of aros, state of aros 68k.
*xexec(was it? New kernel?)
*8088 mph ( https://blog.adafruit.com/2015/04/08/8088-mph-we-break-all-your-emulators/ http://8088mph.blogspot.no/2015/04/cga-in-1024-colors-new-mode-illustrated.html?m=1 )
*libsdl aga
*state of Linux kernel on x1000

Im left with the question on IP and ownership of workbench /amigaos (classic) though, did any light happen to shine on the story of how cloanto managed to secure the rights? I gather no followup statement from cloanto regarding any possible future roadmap for os3 have been discussed? And right there is an entire 10 page discussion in itself. .

Correct. No followups. They own the trademark for workbench of course, but I realize that is not what you're getting at.

Indeed, would maybe be worth trying to deduce the timeframe with those regards, basing it on an assumption of planned and long standing acquirement it might not be unreasonable to assume there are plans.

From reading the Cloanto statement and the questions that followed from the posters on all Amiga websites, the statement was "intentionally" vague on the points that I believe would be of interest to you.

That's not to say having mcb as a guest would not be interesting. I'm just concerned about what you might expect he can say in plain english at this juncture.
One idea would be to write ahead of time and list a few questions that you feel would have enlightening answers. Don't ask him for answers so much as whether he "can" answer those specific questions in public.
(I've done this before with interviews and made it clear there is no problem in having to avoid certain questions)

Knowing what he CAN discuss might help determine the value you percieve in mcb being a guest.

Just my 2¢.

That would be a good premise for a roundtable I suppose.

I agree with @mike, having someone from Cloanto would be really good.

I exchanged some messages with him yesterday.
If any of you remember, I approached Bill before the T2080 laptop project was started.

One of his statement's yesterday mentioned that he'd help restart the community IF he thought it could be done.

Remember, he saw the writing on the wall awhile ago and Genesi moved to ARM.

In any case, he's no longer interested in PPCs.

Oh, and Genesi, in cooperation with a Mexican firm has a nice NXP ARM based laptop.

What else he had to say, I'm keeping to myself, but it relates to the future, and its too f'ing cool.
