As you know we are working besides the indieGO!-Appstore on other server based services to bring amigans some mainstream technologies...

The following link points to a draft (names are subject to change).
In the moment I am awaiting response regarding a 3rd party which could act in between our service and D-Wave Inc's Quantum-Computers.

Depending on this, the target sum will be lowered a lot. On the other hand if someone is really interested in direct and 24/7 access to a D-Wave he will need to pay extra.

For everyone else there will be a work queue which means you can send requests to a D-Wave (e.g your newly programmed algorithm) and will be collected in a queue. This queue will be send to D-Wave.. This means no realtime-access for the basic account, but still the possibility to get scientific tests/projects done.

At the same time we will introduce a way to setup server hosted VM's with our client.
You will be able to instantly log on into pool VM's running linux and or Windows.
At the same time you can also install your own OS from a local media...

The basic account doesn't allow to save your VM. This means when you cut the connection, it will be erased.
Pro accounts will include a persistence VM.

Another Feature is based on AmiCloud...
Do you remember when I tried to share AEROS or Aminux and my dropbox account got blocked?
Reason: too much traffic...

Well.. AmiCloud/quanta(working title) will cost 5€ per client.
Client=User/platform. Means: If you buy the AmigaOS Version, you are free to install it on unlimited AmigaOS powered devices.. If you like to run the Windows versions as well, you will need to buy the Windows version. After this is doesn't matter how many PC's and Amigas you have.. all can be synced.

The 5€ are requested only one time! No monthly fee. AND you get unlimited traffic and can share your files via public urls.

Besides VM's we will also introduce a command which allows to execute local applications in the cloud.

Besides this you will be able to let the cloud convert your files stored in your sync-folder.

All this is planned for 5€. Additional storage, 3rd party apps (flooting licenses paid only when used) and other things will be included as well.

On AEROS we will utilize moonlight for Streaming a whole Workstation to your Raspberry Pi. Whenever you need it.

Beware:
It is a draft ; )

@phoenixkonsole

This has been pointed out to you endless times: stop writing your press material yourself, and stop writing technical documents yourself. You aren't any good at either of these tasks.

That said: LOL.

@cgutjahr
I know : )
This is a draft until others have written those things.
On the other hand other can do great bla bla but produce nothing... As long as I don't do this as main job i find it quite ok so far..

I must admit that most things there have been done in under 5 minutes each whenever I found time

@phoenixkonsole
Cloud computing and cloud storage, whether on a quantum computer or traditional computer, is just a way for corporations to monetize your computer usage. Instead of using a computer on your desktop and storing data on your hard-drive, you pay for the computing by the minute and storage by the volume (data size).

@Xenic
I know this... so I think I can offer us the same but for only 5€ and no monthly fee.
This is not about earning money but serving my customers and users and myself.

Example:
I tried to use Dropbox to share files:
Try it: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9349609/pi-wave.pdf

Still blocked since 2 month because I tried to share Aminux and Broadway...
So Dropbox told me I could pay 9.99$/month to reactivate it...
Well I did... and one hour later it was blocked again because even the pro account has a traffic limitation...

Regarding indieGO-Apsptore I accidentally bought a bit overdressed server equipment.. so I thought why keeping it idle when I could share it with my community...

AmiCloud was born. Than I thought about AmigaNX see here:
http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=39979&forum=33
Which uses a companion computer to overcome some limitations Amigas still have.

Than I thought why not use the computational power for tasks like converting movies to formats which my SAM can handle.. so as soon you store a file in your sync-folder, you can tell the cloud to convert it for you...

Up to this point it is covered under the 5€ fee. (no monthly fee)

So I am not monetizing but adding features.
This will be a free bee for my customers and everyone else can join the club with 5€.

Of course we will offer so called pro accounts with more storage and other goodies but no one is forced to use it.

So let's say you have 2 Amigas, 3 PC's, one Android phone.
Dropbox will be free but has the traffic limitation
AmiCloud will cost:
1x AmigaOS client (5€), 1x Windows cient (5€), 1x Android client (5€) = 15€
As soon you bought the client for one target OS, you are free to install this/logIN, on as many computers you like.
We will offer free cloud processing (file conversation, VM's (with 3D acceleration on Win, OS X, and Linux, everywhere else 2D only)), VCPU)

EDIT:
Just for the record:
AmiCloud comes definitely... the other stuff is part of the Kickstarter and a try to reach more users..

@phoenixkonsole

I've always been highly suspicious of "the Cloud" but this sounds pretty good.

I'd certainly trust you rather than Microsoft or Google.

Good luck with it Pascal

Daniel Müßener (cherry darling) is working on the Amiga side of things... So please be calm and stay tuned.

And if you don't trust, stay away.
At least I am not as open as a U.S. Company....

More specifically, do you trust someone whose business model is to charge an extremely low one-time fee for a supposed "life time" of service to have sufficient resources in order to keep his cloud infrastructure well maintained and secure for any extended period of time?

I hope all involved parties understand the level of responsibility that is involved with providing an online file storage service. Once you start charging money, it is difficult to convincingly argue that you are just a hobbyist and should not be held to the same standard as other commercial vendors.

@tommysammy
I would like to do a sort of preordering campaign via kickstarter.
We will start in some weeks.

@André
I am aware of this but I can cover those costs for a limited number of users with earnings from other things(I have fixed income via passive positions). Also I am happy if existing resources will be used at all.
Of course this model was planned for our small community which minimizes my monthly loss.
In case this will be accepted by a larger user base... Well than I am free to change the model for new users and keep the good conditions for existing users, funders or maybe limited to some target platforms.

Also I am believing that one or two will use additional services, which reduce my costs or at best bring some income.
Whatever I have a handbrake regarding costs. I can block new registrations when needed.
At the end it is something for us (amigans).

Believe it or not but I calculated it from the beginning with a monthly loss... But a loss which is covered by revenues of other projects.

I wan't it and I do it...

While my trust in MS is of limited height, it's probably higher than my trust in phoenixconsole. MS is a professional company and know how to provide reliable services. With Pascal you always should be aware, that it isnt't unlikely he pulls the plug just the other day for some random reason.

Interesting... But if I sell something there is a contract between me and my customers.
I have no contract with anonymous amiganews poster....
One man one word...
I am curious if you can call someone at m$ to add a feature or solve a problem ; )

So... webdav over https?

Why is it so difficult for you to just say what protocols you are using?

As for solving problems, my main providers (apple, egnyte, linode, digital ocean, evernote) have been very responsive around the clock, sending me feedback on my tickets, most often solving my issues within a day.

I don't mean problems like interruptions or data loss..
I mean finding solutions for Amiga related stuff... Being it trouble because of a new dopus build, a special Icaros ISO and so on.

They will support you?
