Hi guys,
we need 3-4 people running OS X (intel and PPC) for testing the new 2.0 version.
Someone interested in helping us out : )

We are rolling out 2.0 now. The 1.2 client will stop working. Be prepared to download the new client from www.amicloud.de (i will name them 2.0 so you can recognise when they are available for download)

As usually the "productive system" differs a bit from the test environment... = waaaahhhh!

Stay tuned.

Hello all!

Since we are still fighting with MacOS X, as Pascal has requested, I'm posting here the most recent builds (RC7) for all available systems, this is not an official release but a Public Beta :)

Change Log
- Added nested folder support
- The share window has been reworked to use a TreeView reflecting the shared folder structure
- Windows & MacOS versions uses system AppData folders to write application data.
- Server errors are handled by the client without crashes.
- Added a information Windows to access quickly related web resources and to check for updates.
- Added several messages to make it clearer what AmiCloud is doing.
- Added multiuser support, heach account can have its own shared folder on the same computer.
- Users can change the shared folder if they need it.
- When exiting AmiCloud will wait for ACManager to finish its tasks to make it clear when the ACManager is quitted.

MacOS X Systems
- Please copy the AmiCloud and ACManager app bundles on your Applications folder.
- Execute AmiCloud, ACManager will be executed automatically by AmiCloud (Gatekeeper could block AmiCloud and/or ACManager, please report if it's happening for you!).

All non-MacOS Systems
- Unpack the archive where you wish (select a place where you have read/write permissions), on Linux systems you have to set the executable flag for AmiCloud and ACManager programs.
- Execute AmiCloud, ACManager will be executed automatically by AmiCloud.

Crashes?
- If you have problems running AmiCloud or ACManager does not starts please write me at info@a-mc.biz or reply here.
AmiCloud has an embedded debug mode, to activate it you have to run AmiCloud holding down the left shift key (or run AmiCloud and, immediatly after, hold down the left shift key), a requester should appear informing you that the debug mode has been activated and some logs are being generated, take note of the logs location so that you can send them to me.

@Allanon

On Windows 10 Amicloud Client starts, but I cannot open the settings... only after "manually" logging in via the "torch" button next to the "info" button.

Autologin doesn't work.
html files cause an error message (guess this is on purpose?)

AmigaOS4 cannot be tested, downloadable archive is defective

Next one:

seems it upload "German Umlaut" files correct (Drießen.jpg), but when deleted I screws it up while syncing. No chance to delete the given file from the server at all! So, once AmiCloud Client is syncing that file, it quits... see screenshot.

@gerograph

Thank you very much for your help!

-AutoLogin doesn't work
Yes, you are right, it's my fault, that bug has been introduced when I've added multiuser support, I'll fix it. The settings button is locked for this reason since each user can have it's own preferences and shared folder the button isn't available until someone has logged in.

-html files cause an error message
Are you talking about html pages and files or about links to html pages? Because I've tried saved html pages and they does not give errors, I've tried links too and I haven't got any errors. Could you provide a screenshot?

-About Drießen.jpg
From the screenshot the filename seems right, it's the UTF8 encoding but somewhere it is no interpreted correctly...

Please hold down the left shift key to enable the file logging, take note of the logs location and when AmiCloud crashes send me a zipped file at info@a-mc.biz so I can see exactly where is the problem (server, client, etc...)

I've updated the AmigaOS4 link
I'll produce a new build as soon as possible ;)

Thanks again for your help.

-html files
I'll come back on that one later. Needs some more investigation.

-Drießen.jpg
Seems Amicloud creates a directory while downloading??? See screenshot. Does not only happen with "Drießen.jpg", also with other "German Umlaut" files.

Will send an error log in a second!

-wrong foldersync behaviour
next problem....
I was trying to restart my betatesting from scratch using an newly created directory ... therefore I logged in via "pause sync" button and "restart sync" button. After choosing an empty directory and logging in, Amicloud then rebuilds my old directory* into the new sync directory...expected behaviour would be deleting files on the server, creating an empty directory.

*including all errors like "Drießen etc..."

Therefor I donnot have a chance to do further testing, as it is impossible to delete files on the server...

Nope, AmiCloud is misunderstanding the UTF encoding and using the backslash as directory separator instead of escape character for UTF encoding

-wrong foldersync behaviour
Well, to be honest the behaviour is right to me because you haven't deleted the files from your original folder, instead you have created a new folder just like an user from another place starting a new session in a new computer.
If you want to remove all the contents you have to remove them from the shared folder and let AmiCloud synch, it will remove the contents also from the server.

I've received the logs, I'll try to fix the problems as soon as possible!

That is what I meant...this is propaply the proplem you have to dealt with.

I have... the original folder is empty. However, syncing will never finish, because Amicloud crashes (Drießen.jpg problem) before. So I have NO CHANCE AT ALL TO DELETE ALL FILES ON THE SERVER!

Quote:

Indeed, that is logical...you are right. However guess it would be a good move for the release version to make clear, that it is not a folder sync anymore, rather sync per user!

Quote:

currently not possible, even If I have a new AC Beta, it will be questionable, because I have the newly created subfolders... There schould be a delete button next to the files on the server (that is, when logging in via webinterface (http://www.indiego.rocks/user/cloud)...

great! Thanx, let me know, when done. I'll restart testing immediately (holidays )

-os4 client cannot connect
After starting the os4 Version of AmiCloud, I get this message:

"The AmiCloud Manager" wasn't able to connect to the Amicloud client."

If I "quit" (ignore), I can login and will get this one:

"Tablefild "clientid" wasn't initialized!..." (getting it in German, though)

Hello guys, sorry for the late but the bugs were not simple to analyse and fix, anyway we are almost there, I've fixed the auto-login feature and the problem with the utf-8 encoding that was causing severe troubles.
The last problem to solve is the one regarding the html pages, I hope to resolve this last problem before the end of the week.

Thank you for your patience!

Hi!

I've fixed all reported bugs, here are the new builds :)
- Problems with UTF-8 deconding >> FIXED
- Problems with HTML files (and SVG files too) >> FIXED
- Problems with AutoLogin >> FIXED
- Plus other minor fixes here and there

Notes:
- The debug is active and you will see two windows popping out informing you about this, you can see in this windows where the log files will be saved.
- For people using MacOSX, remember to put both AmiCloud and ACManager app folders in your system APPS/APPLICATIONS folder
- Linux users may need to set the executable flag on both AmiCloud and ACManager executables

If something does not work please let me know and send me the logs at:

Before synchronizing remove the folders that the previous version of AmiCloud has wrongly created.

Brief update to let you know that I'm still alive :P

I've received some bug reports, thank you for the feedback! Now I have a bad and a good news.

The bad news is that the problem reported by @gerograph (by mail) is caused by an Hollywood bug, so we have to wait the next release to have it fixed.

The good news is that I've replaced the bugged functions with custom routines, I only need to make some more tests and a new RC will be released, let's say 2-3 days

Stay tuned, and thank you for your patience :D
