@eliyahu

Hi. Yes, the Pet has been delivered, shipped and sold out. Now there's a new model, the Leo, which is better crafted than the Pet and less expensive.

So there's no emulation of CBM 8bit computers?

Good point. If it's called the PET that's a direct allusion to one of the early 8-bit machines.

Indeed, it could be said, that it should be running Microsoft and be a Windows phone. Since Commoodre computers ran a Microsoft OS.

The Amiga wasn't exactly a Commodore when you think about it and so Microsoft was relegated to a BASIC program on disk. Downgraded from being an OS.

@Hypex

Commodore's compuyers also ran GEOS which had nothing to do with MS. As a former Windows Phone user, I'd frankly say nothing should ever run such a poor excuse of a mobile os.

The embedded version of GEOS (For PCs - called breadbox) was actually licensed to Nokia for its phones.

More legal paperwork thrown at C=Holdings B.V. and shell company Polabe NV from CBM.

July 31, 2017

The argument is still about lack of use of the trademark, which we've heard before.

HI

No reference to the history of Commodore on the website. It is just a name now means nothing. Bet the phone don't even come with Vice.

Apologies again for being late. Too many Commodore and Amiga "aspirations" to keep up with:

Request for extension by C=Holdings B.V. and Polabe Holding N.V. to euipo, granted, and notice of same sent back to the applicant (CBM Smartphone people).

Source under correspondence

@WolfpackN64

That may be so but GEOS wasn't on the main kernel ROM chips. Okay in this case MS-OS was in the BASIC ROM. Either way still inside the machine as standard.

Windows makes a poor mobile OS? I wouldn't want Windows following me every where. LOL.

I use a Windows laptop, so I guess we differ there.

And BASIC in rom was only a feature of some PCs (notably the original IBM PC), but calling it an operating system is stretching things.
And most PC only have a rom BIOS.

@Beans

Windows to me is a tool. I use it only when I need too. It's locked up the rest of the time.

But I was thinking of machines like the C64 WRT BASIC in ROM. I didn't know it was in the IBM PC. Shocker. Were they trying to make it a home computer?

some detail on the Commodore trademark battle

Simply using translate, I see some inaccuracies, so take with grain of salt.

earlier version of same article

Above link seems dead, but the indication was that the "tone" of the article was changed.

This is a developing story that might have an effect outside of the world in which it began.

Although I see no specific statement yet under "Decisions", it appears that indeed a decision has been reached as to the CBM trademark.

Check the document below - dates of "Correspondence" and the notes re:topic of said correspondence.
Then check "Oppositions", where you will see the term "Appealable" as status for both of the oppositions filed.

Source

I would think "Appealable" means Commodore (Ebben/Hoogstrate) have lost the tm.
Anyone wish to confirm what seems to be obvious here?

It means that Polabe and C=Holdings (actually, the same people) could not concretely motivate their (its) opposition to Commodore Business Machines. I can't tell you what this may mean to their (its) old registration, but frankly speaking the only important news here is that all flames, all FUD and old accusations that CBM LTD and its associates couldn't use the Commodore brand and C= logo on their phones are OVER. They could before, they can today, they will tomorrow.
