This combination should be possible since we already know that Radeon X1300, X1550, HD2400 and HD4350 already work in a 33Mhz PCI slot.

So who is going to be the first to try this out?

There are problems with the Micro and boards that got the DMA "fix" so it's best to use an unfixed board for this.

Ideally you should already own or have access to n suitable Radeon HD7000 or Rx series card that is compatible with the current RadeonHD and Warp3D drivers. This is so you don't have to spend too much on this experiment.

You'll need a PCI-PCIe adapter based on the PEX 8112 such as this one.

Link.

If you lucky enough to have a low profile 7750 then you don't need anything else.

For full size cards you need a PCI extender cable so you connect the card externally for testing. I'd recommend an extender like the one I've linked below because the PCIe slot is mounted at a right angle to the PCB and the PCB has through holes for mounting on standoffs.

Link.

This will be useful mounting the card later if to test proves successful. It is possible to house an XE and full size PCIe video card all in one case if you get a 9 slot monster like the Define XL R2 Black Pearl. The Amigone XE and SE are 6 slot boards so there would be plenty of space would be plenty of space below the to mount such a card.

@Rob
I've just got a Club3d HD4350 PCI edition, but it loads the kickstart fine then stops when it should load BootVGA screen.

I've got my Old AGP Radeon booting from AmigaOS4.1FE cd, is there anyway to check the second card (HD) while booted into AGP

Ranger or Sysmon will give you details on what video cards are installed.

I take it you only have the lite version of the RadeonHD driver that comes with FE.

Do you have PCIgraphics.card and RadeonHD.chip in your Kickstart folder and to the Kicklayout and a suitable monitor file in Devs? If all that is done then you should be able select modes on the 4350 from the screenmode prefs.

You can run both cards at once. I had an X1550 PCI and 9250 AGP in my XE and ran a dual screens back in the early days of testing. It must be close to 4 years since I sold that setup now.

Let me know how it goes.

I understand that the version of uBoot in the Xe/Se/uA1 series does nto support scanning PCI devices across bridges/switches, when discovering the device tree. It would see the PEX8112, but nothing on other side of it. So uboot needs updated to be able to scan heirarchically, not only in a flat line of the primary PCI bus coming out of Articia chip.

@billt

That is the case with the 66Mhz slot in the XE but we had a different result with the 33Mhz slots. uA1 has it's own problems as do DMA fixed motherboards.

TheAMIgaOne's 4350 is recognised the other side of the bridge built into the card. Uboot is fine with it but we need to work out why it wouldn't boot to workbench.
I had the same symptoms at times when testing out the beta version of the driver years ago, due to a driver mismatch.

@Rob

The Lite version is only included with the Sam460 and X1000 versions of 4.1 FE AFAIK.

@Rob

Just checked and there doesn't seem to be a RadeonHD.chip with AmigaOS4.1FE seems it may of been only for Sam Boards

The Kickstart of my XE also has PCIgraphics.card and inside lots of driver names so it should be detected. Anyonce capture serial output or the debug log?

I don't really see why they didn't put it on all versions.

I guess you have an excuse to get Enhancer now. You can make custom version of the FE install disk once you have the driver. Then you'll have a CD that'll boot either card if you need to in the future.
