| Whats the status of ALICE? Did it not turn into a viable option? Is it now dead? _________________ http://www.pc-opensystems.com |

Only references I see to a.l.i.c.e. recently are in the last related thread:
Amikit X
and in recent news:
Amikit X released!

"Alice isn't dead"
As per Wikipedia:
Cassandra Khaw of Ars Technica positively reviewed the first three episodes, stating that the series "very quickly comes into its own, dropping any pretence of gallows humour for the kind of creeping, consuming terror that pervades the best horror movies."
Now, as we ALL know, Ars Technica is NEVER wrong.
So, Alice must be a horror movie (or a podcast, I'm not sure).
A quick question that bugs me here, are many of you so bored that you want to throw money at Aeon for an X86 laptop pre-configured to emulate AmigaOS? |

No, just Trevor's machine. That wouldn't have been the primary prototype. But if this one is being sold then you'd expect the product to be ready to ship.Either that or this is;
A) Trevor's stolen machine B) A developer cashing in while it has more value due to its rarity!
Either way a machine without clarity on the status is not encouraging! _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |

If you look carefully to the eBay auction you will see Jan (AmiKit) selling his machine.

With AmiKitX can you not just install this on a PC laptop anyway and have essentially the same thing as ALICE?
What's the difference?
Was ALICE just AmikitX with a different box and boot screen? _________________ Sam |

So potentially you could have it anyway by just setting it up DIY with AmiKitX? _________________ Sam |

Originally developed for A.L.I.C.E. A Laptop Incorporating Classic Experience
In 2015 Trevor Dickinson from A-EON came up with an excellent idea of a dedicated hardware for AmiKit - an Amiga laptop which Commodore has never produced. AmiKit X (version 10) was specially developed for this laptop for almost 2 years. Now you can enjoy AmiKit X even on your own computer! Originally developed for A.L.I.C.E. Yes sorry, it is Jan who is selling it. I assumed that was obvious from the seller too. He has a link on the AmiKit site.
With the launch of the "ready to install" linux version building your own should be even easier - well that's the plan (as I often say

Very good... I had not seen that one before...
Much like what I was working towards, have been running AmiKit (6-8) on an old laptop under XP for a long time.. But I would prefer to rebuild it with Linux at it base an using AmiKit X...
