Thanx for the link...however, buying via a shop with no postal adress of owner provided, plus not european based is not suitable.... warrenty is to much of a hassle, then.

Why does the Asus laptop only have 4 GB DDR4 RAM and why aren't Amigakit helping them distribute the machines worldwide? Another missed opportunity

Bigger question is why they are selling Acer laptop as Asus.

@Rose

I hadn't noticed that

It doesn't fill anyone with any confidence that they can provide after market support from across the Atlantic does it?

Having ony three computers in the shop and even then messing up the product description makes you wonder.....

No, they still sell hardware with pre-installed software. A great idea if rolled out correctly with distribution partners around the world.

Why would you order commodity hardware from so far away when the software installation can be done locally?

Actually, it was due to the fact that Alex had to make an emergency run to Fry's Electronics in order to get some much needed parts. By the time he came back, it was too late to carry on with his presentation.

That's why AmigaKit UK need to help with the distribution. No one (else who hasn't got it already) is going to bother setting up AmiKit X on their own (including me). OS3.9 was enough of a pain to get upgraded and the way I want it and though I'd like the Rabit Hole set up that those laptops offer I have no intention of doing it myself and that would be true of those from outside the Amiga (fanatic) community too. Small scale thinking like this is holding the Amiga market share growth back. But hey it's just a hobby so why worry about it

For different hardware unrelated to A.L.I.C.E.

Let's hope it was as important as a chance at growing his business internationally because he's fast losing credibility outside of the USA IMHO. Where are the European distribution networks and why is it taking so long to sign a deal with AmigaKit?

in fact i dont think it has any practical influence on anything. just find it weird, that something apparently as simple as existing emulation environment on existing hardware gets so difficult to present, as it is announced to be demoed since years as commercial products for the people interested and then repeatedly cancelled, as if it was shameful in what state it was. reminds me of publicity and web appearance of some amiga legacy companies lately.

It's ridiculous in that Mr Amiga i.e. Trevor himself uses their product and they still can't market, distribute and sell it correctly to "the masses not the classes"! This really is a license to print money as the Amiga community has NEVER had the chance to own an Amiga laptop and this to all intensive purposes is it!

SELL, SELL, SELL

For what it is worth I intend selling complete Checkmate A1500 systems with Amiga style keyboards with AmiKit for this experience below. At the moment the only issue is which Amiga OS I ship with it or both.
