| It's wedge shaped case with attached display part. I'm wondering what are its dimensions. Something like that could be a starting point for an Amiga laptop. _________________ Rock lobster bit me. Vampire V4 might fit in there and if the "hub" PCB can pass the video through to the screen without the need to connect the Pi's JTAG then it shouldn't take a lot of work. |

Depending on the internal space and connections is may be possible to put in other boards - I'm thinking of a nano size itx running AROS, of course

It would be interesting, but the big question would indeed be if the screen can be passed to the Vampire. |

Here's the dimensions for the Pi-Top.
341 x 209 mm (W x D) Front thickness 10mm Rear thickness 47mm
It.s been out for a wee while now. A bit expensive, though.
If you don't like the grey one, you can buy it in lurid green! _________________ Fred Booth ======================================== A500, A600, A1200 c/w Mediator and 030 AmigaOne and OS4.1 Mac LCII, G4 Powermac running OSX + Amigakit and MorphOS 3.0 Dell Mini 10 Netbook running IcAros and AmigaForever+Amikit+AmigaSys 2006 Macb |

This is a real laptop, meaning a lot of the price goes to the batteries.
A FPGA card is power hungry compared to an ARM board.
If you are just looking for compact desktop case, a small keyboard an a hdmi connector, there are other cheaper possibilities. |

No problem to get the Vampire board working since the Pi-top has a HDMI-LVDS converter board included!
Just kick out the pie and replace it with Vampire V4! Instant Amiga Laptop!

I wouldn't be surprised if a few of you manage to pull off something like a portable V4 system. AROS? That's kind of redundant, since you can run that one of the existing X64 laptops.
Portable Pis? I don't get that either, since ARM based portable devices are hardly rare.
And if you want flame bait, I'm still rooting for the PPC laptop, because that could run a PPC NG OS. _________________ Amiga! "Our appeal has become more selective" |

There is a 50% discount at pi-top.com for the pi-top 3. (black friday offer, so I'm not sure how long it lasts) It looks as a revised version of the one in the OP, now at 142.50 USD
Dont know about the HDMI-LVDS thing on this version though, but it looks like a bargain at this price for anyone that wants a laptop pi. |
