Hello , sometimes I find a repeated question in Amiga forums .

The question is: What you are using your next-gen Amiga for?

So here a small video off a quick and dirty sketch on my Pegasus II running Amiga OS4.1
Final Edition Update 1 .

This is a hobby within a hobby which is sketching small characters .

Of course I am using my Next - Gen Amiga for other things too but thanks to Mr. Ady and his
fabulous program sketch block I found a unique use for my Amiga .

I am using a simple mouse for this one so do not be very demanding

Here is the link to the video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqQgW3LbRZk&feature=youtu.be

Clear skies to everyone

PS. Sorry for my bad English but I bet your Greek are worse

My X5000 gets used for....

Doing my blog
Surfing the net
Downloading and listening to podcasts
Internet radio
Running my classic Amiga games collection
Next gen Amiga games
Watching you tube and DVDs
Word processing
Email
Storing and editing photos
Emulation of classic computers and consoles, there are so many options

Am sure I'll find other productivity tasks for it too Futher down the line, part of it is learning how to use the software

@50mm

Sadly it (Pegasos 2) collects dust on the floor below my main computer a Mac Pro, I am waiting for a competent web browsing solution to become available.

The last time I powered it up I attempted to purchase and download the enhancer software package from A-eon, but ironically the Oddysey web browser and A-eons website wouldn't work and allow the purchase and download, so I gave up after multiple tries and packed it up once again to collect some more dust.

@Fairdinkem

Join the club! I bought one of the last Open Desktop Workstations (PegII) produced by Bill Buck back in 2007 and he sent along a copy of MorhpOS which looked great and was very snappy but there wasn't any software.....so, I bought into the all the fanboy hype over at Amiga.org and bought a copy of OS4 and set up a dual boot MOS/OS4 system. Again, no software and the interface was slow and ugly, at least out-of-the box ugly anyway. USB support under OS4 was ALWAYS flaky too and it wasn't because of the hardware because I never had a single problem under MOS.

After 3 years I got tired of owning a dust collector so in 2010 I sold off my PegII via eBay to a very anxious buyer who was quite happy to pay me what I had invested in the system. I was glad to be rid of it.

And now, 10 years later, I'm still hearing the same tired promises of SMP, a modern web browser and an office suite.....just not as loudly.

These days I restrict my time and purchases to classic Amigas and Vampires as I'm no longer in the market for expensive dust collectors, boat anchors or paper weights.

Stating these sentiments over at Amiga,org got me banned for several months and it may also get me banned here, but I'm calling it like I see it.

It seems that most NG Amiga users buy their systems merely for the sake of being different and don't mind the extra expense because most of what is, or what can be done on an NG Amiga, can be done much cheaper and faster on commodity x86 hardware

I use my MorphOS machines for everything. I don't use other machines at home in daily use.

Thanks for not having answered the initial question (and so to try to derive once again a simple thread with your anger).

Not having any NG hardware yet, I use only OS4 in WinUAE. Mainly playing with other emulators (under emulation...), some painting in PPaint and basic webbrowsing (my needs are limited in this regard). I expect A1 I intend to buy will be more than able for these tasks. Well, Windows 10 has so bad picture viewer that I rather use MysticView under UAE.

Unfortunately the sky is pretty cloudy today so maybe it's time to compile something.

Angry? I'm in no way angered by my experience with my NG Amiga so I'll chalk up your response to a language barrier and I DID answer 50mm's question. I merely had the same experience as Fairdinkem in regard to NG Amigas and felt it should be shared since the question was asked.

Mainly using my AmigaOne 500 for the following:

- Hollywood and Hollywood Designer
- Testing games and writing reviews about them for my blogs (see signature)

Must say that Hollywood Designer is a very nice tool. I'm hoping to make some small music-packs with it for Void.

Since I recently purchased this system, I've spent quite a lot of time configuring my setup, as well as trying out various utilities, tools and other stuff.

Nice.

I think that if you take more time to draw you can achieve great results. I mean, you drawed some arts very fast, imagine if you use a wacom board or pen.

@ferrels

Noone is any wiser about what you do with your NG system, we just know that it collects dust, which suggests the answer is "nothing".

@50mm

In the past, I used a KVM switch to share keyboard, mouse and monitor between a Windows PC and my Amiga NG system. I used my Amiga NG system every day for all my computer needs (except printing).

This worked fine until I purchased a wireless keyboard with USB tranceiver. My Amiga NG system loses synch with the keyboard each time I switch between systems, requiring a system reset when I go back to the Amiga NG system. I decided to setup the Amiga NG system in the living room, with its own keyboard, mouse and monitor. Due to limited space, I keep the system in a box when I'm not using it. Sadly, I have found I can do all my web browsing on my Samsung tablet, so I don't setup the Amiga NG as often as I would like to.

Anyways ... I use my Amiga NG system for web browsing, word processing, painting and a few old games. I have several web browsers (AWeb, IBrowse, NetSurf, OWB, Odyssey, Timberwolf), Final Writer 97, PPaint, TVPaint, and emulation via UAE.

I thought most NG owners thought the 'killer app' was Amiga OS 4.x itself! Therefore, most people just love opening and closing windows and trying to make it all look nice

@outrun1978

It is my retroroom's internet/download machine.

Last time I used it to download sone Sinclair Spectrum games and used Fuse to save snapshot files so that I could use them with my Speccy's SmartCard interface.
