Thats a little bizarre. Handy usually supports .lnx files. Its the default format. Never heard of .lss files. I ported it to aros and os3 as well so I do have a little experience there.
Almost suspect theres a bug (although it may not be). Have you tried to load .lnx files anyway?

LSS are saved state files. But it can also load LNX files of course. If loading an LNX file, it takes a few seconds before the title screen appears, this is the same as on a real Lynx.
(I should warn however that there is a known bug in the current 1.4 release causing distorted sound in some situations. This will be investigated and fixed for the next release.)
