Hi All,

AmiWest 2017 is just a few weeks away. I'm starting to prepare for the broadcast and wanted feedback. Every year I try to make it better then the previous years efforts.

So let me know what has been working and what's not. I'm particularly interested in thoughts on the use of youTube for the streaming service.

Thanks to all those who tuned in over the past 20 years :P

Hope to see you there,
Bill "tekmage" Borsari

@tekmage

Be sure to record the audio. It's often difficult to hear the speakers.
Thanks for your work.

Tekmage - thanks as always for the stream work that you do at the show. I never can bring myself to get out to the show due to various reasons but I always look forward to the coverage/stream every year. Your efforts are appreciated.

Audio is often difficult but I seem to recall last year being pretty damn good actually.

@tekmage

maybe collect donations for larger audiences eg Twitch live stream using .

restream.io

A couple of 4K action cameras etc.

I hope to see Amiga working on teaching new technology like GoLang, R & Docker

Hello Bill!

First of all let me say thank you for broadcasting and documenting Amiwest all these years!

The only thing on my list of requests is - Microphones and microphones!

Thank You!

@tekmage

First a BIG THX for all those videos you do!!!

And like others posts, for non native users that listen to such low audio videos is a bit difficult to understandwhat they are saying/telling us. So if you can "raise" such audio volume it will be welcome.

But anyway keep the good work mate!!!

@Tekmage:

Bill, some of the speakers (one fellow from New Zealand especially) are very quiet speakers and a microphone around their necks is just not enough. May I suggest a headset for speakers (one of those silly-looking head things with a tube in front of the mouth). If pop singers can use them, then we ought to be able to also.

@Bill,

The sound is always the weakest point but it has dramatically been improved over the years.
Thanks for your hard work, without it, I probably would have dropped any interest regarding the Amiga scene.

Regards

@all

Thank you for the kind words, i appreciate it. This is the 20th anniversary and I've been presenting the show online in some form the whole time. It started with IRC with a webcam and has become a youTube video stream. It's been a fun journey and there are many more years to come.

I'll focus on the audio part, especially as the show is happening. That's the hardest part, keep it all running and tune the audio for each speaker.

Anyone interesting in the audio only feeds or the webcams? I dropped them a few years ago but if someone wants them I can run them again.

Rock on!

No biggie, but...

The link on the AmiWest homepage showing your AmiWest sponsorship is missing an "l".

@tekmage

I'm looking forward to this, but yet again, I can not make it to Sacramento this year.
Probably next year.

But, as there some neat things happening THIS year, so thanks for the coverage.
At least I'll get to view it.

BTW - My suggestion? Make sure to make the rounds and talk to the exhibitors at their tables.

Thank you! I'll make sure to update that page before the show. Not sure the streaming method yet. Will start with Youtube and make sure it works.

Yes, webcams (if possible) would be interesting (We'll run some during the Alchimie in november).

Cant wait ! Will we be having an list of questions to the people at the show ?

Im sure there will be lots of questions.

I would like to know what progress A-EON & Hyperion & others have regarding projects for all Amiga like systems like Aros, working together in harmony was promised & surely a commendable approach to have.

I can't remember if it was last year or the year before they first had a live stream on Youtube.

Back in the day I'd download the audio that came after the show and listen to the interviews on the way to work.

@all

So we have problem. Looks like Youtube live streams no longer work with the Amiga tools like FFplay. I have a fall back for users on the Amiga which I should have in place before the show starts. I'd like to be able to continue to use youtube but it will require a more modern browser.

I'll keep everyone posted.

"Error 404 File Not Found" error is bit annoying, hope they fix it.
