stop bashing Daniel for broken delivery dates

I hope I don’t come across as bashing by just pointing out something he said over the years that the game was nearly finished.

just a little annoyed by the fact that he said if you don’t want to wait any longer go get a refund, when by that point it was clear you couldn’t get a refund.

I feel sorry for him too as likely he will never get paid for the work too, but for me I’m out of pocket £40.

But I suppose your right its unproductive / petty to maybe bring it up every year, then again I don’t know if Daniel ever come out and just said “project scrapped / canceled” so until I get that confirmation then no harm in asking every year, any updates🤪

@khayoz

You paid £40 to a greedy reanimated corpse of Cinemaware for a port of a game that is on sale for £1.39 on the PC right now! You should have wired Daniel the money and waited for the inevitable leak when the next Cinemaware shell company goes bust! In the meantime play it on the PC. It doesn't even support analogue joysticks on the PC! Reminiscent of most Amiga flight sims so you'll feel right at home playing a flight sim on a digital controller or gamepad (which at least has analogue thumb sticks)

15.11.17 Order Update Rocket Ranger - ECE and Wings:Remastered Edition

** Shipping of Rocket Ranger and Wings:RE and new Shop
------------------------------------------------------------

After a long time of development the shipping of Rocket Ranger, Wings:RE (Amiga) has been started. Also the latest orders will be shipped now. After the last weeks of development i have to finalize the Boxes for the Amiga32-Event. After this weeks and months i need bit time to recover. The next step is to move the shop and also the distribution to an external team. With many projects in the pipeline source the package and delivery to an external partner so i can concetrate complete to development. The good news is that the order and shipping process will now runs faster. Also there will be no "pre-Order" anymore. The next project needs no pre-order anymore and will be shipped after order.…

---------

I don't know who is to blame for this mess, I feel scammed and lied to, I never saw an honest apology or a trustful explanation.

@OneTimer1

Daniel had a full time job and they never paid him for the port. It's a low priority to get it finished and if he did the current IP owner Starbreeze would probably deny release and take ownership of the code. They are financially in dire straits and would want to renegotiate the publishing deal. All this faff for a £1.39 game! It's not worth the stress for anyone IMHO.

Well someone named 'Sven' or 'Cinemaware Retro' with the EMail: retro@cinemaware.com mailed me 2017 and told me about the shipping of the software.

I don't know who is to blame but I never got an explanation or apology from Daniel or Starbreeze.

I hate if companies try to make extra money by selling extra rare boxed version of old or poorly updated software. I will spent money for the software and not for cardboard, so if someone is out there who got my money and sent me nothing, I wish a lightning should strike him on the toilet

And because he claimed there should be a shop in Germany If will write it again in German:

Der Blitz soll ihn beim Scheißen treffen.

The money I lost on this debacle, which was considerably more than £1.39, still annoys me and makes me extra cautious and frequently reluctant to spend any money on Amiga stuff. At this time I only buy what is shipping and at least mostly sorta working.

@mbrantley

Plenty of Amiga software is legit and worth supporting including Worthy, ReShoot,
MetroSiege and Tower57. Cinemaware/Starbreeze always seemed like a scam to be honest.

You pay your money, you take your chance!

@BigD

Yes, I've bought some of that software. But, as I said, I will no longer buy what is not finished and shipping. No more prepaying for what might or might not come. For instance, when and if the software is ready that will allow 1080p or better video playback on my X1000 computers and is demonstrated to be working, I will put money down for the necessary app(s) and driver(s). But that's another subject happening in another thread.

The thing that narced me off most about this that Sven sold the boxes to people who just happened to be at the right show and not the people who pre-payed so he could actually have those boxes to sell.

@Rob

So someone will end copying this game, as Sven "sort of" wants us to do that :-/

@elwood

What so if I understand you right, there is a boxed version out there that was only sold at one show! It is beta version but it's all we have so one day Sven the coder hopes it will be pirated to get him off the hook finishing it!?! Is that really what you are insinuating?
