Yes. I allways found super interesting the stuff that pushes the chipset to it's limits and doing it in HiRes would be one I guess.

This game does push the chipset already.
Also note that interlacing:
* looks terrible and causes sickness;
* higher resolutions destroy the beauty/purpose of hand-pixelled graphics and do not necessarily look better.

@saimo
Agree with interlaced but I'd still prefer 640 instead of 320, it's just too blocky for me.

@Jose

You're entitled to your tastes, but please note that:
* standard hires makes the pixel ratio 1:2 (i.e. pixel are tall), which isn't quite suitable for hand-pixelled graphics (again it defies their purpose/beauty and it also looks odd) and still is affected vertically by the "blockiness" you don't like (and actually kind of jumps to the eye even more, due to the contrast with the higher horizontal resolution);
* if lowres is too blocky for you, then SkillGrid (just like most of the classic Amiga games - and not just those) isn't for you - I suggest you look elsewhere.

@Jose

The "DBLPAL:High Res No Fliker" mode, don't think I have ever seen it being used in any game, maybe UFO Enemy unknown, actually there are not many that use on their workbench screen, I think general problem with this mode is bandwidth, issue higher resolution you have more bandwidth the chipset uses, and cpu read/write speed falls.

The first draft of the manual is done! Now it's only a matter of fixing the errors (if any) and changing a name...

The manual will consist in a 16 pages jewel case booklet, as the game CD will come in a jewel case inside a gorgeous clamshell box.

Excellent work. As an old marketing/packaging guy I'd say good planning with the Jewel Case, professional packaging and CD. Now, where and when can I buy this? (Amiga 1200 OK?)

The final product will be produced and sold by RGCD. Hard to say when, but I guess it will be sometime in Q1 2019.
Yes, the game runs on the A1200 (actually, one of my objectives was precisely making a game for the standard A1200), and it works also on the A4000 and the CD32.

For the joy of all the AmigaCD³² consoles out there, here's the initial design of the CD:

Actually, the CD contains also the ADF images of the floppies and a pre-installed copy of the game for A1200s and A4000s ;)

@saimo

Very nice CD art. Like it a lot.

I did not look so closely in the manual but manual looks nice. One thing I noticed.
Is it nessesary to mention "Skill Grid" so much. I see things like "Running Skill grid from CD" "installing Skill grid"
Is it not obious that the game is "Skill Grid"

Keep on the great work.

Yes, but there has to be something there, and repeating "the game" wouldn't sound better either.

Note: it's "SkillGrid", not "Skill Grid"

@saimo

Don't need to mention "game" either.

Just something like this.

"Install to hard disk"

"CD users"

"Floppy users"

"Hard disk users"

No, sorry, such headings are not consistent and also have indirect meanings.

Amen to that, my friend. Call me nostalgic (which, at least partially, I am), but I personally believe that nothing beats the beauty of hand-pixelled graphics. Sadly, I suck at drawing it, so I'll never be able to do my own pixel art. I guess I need a mentor ....

One of the options I'm considering is adding a little sub-game based on this dot-matrix engine I wrote a few months ago:

Oh, no, not even by a long shot!
BTW, please note that eventually the idea of using the dot-matrix engine was dismissed.

I know it was, but that code is beautiful nonetheless.

I'm also fan of lower resolutions. At least for pixel gfx.

Looking forward to buy the game.

The design of the floppy labels has been kept intentionally simple. It might still change, but probably won't be much different from what shown in this mockup.
