**************** TOPIC BODY ****************

Hi Guys and Happy New Year!

Since the old Benchmarks time topic(http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=30008&forum=2) becomes a bit messy and want to try to update benchs and various tests I'll start a new topic where try to do things in a better way...

Hope also to make things ordered to have a better comparison against various systems...

I dont found all the tests for all the systems however that can be a good comparison for all Amiga-òlike systems(included WinUAE, WinUAE_PPC and also Vampire)

Lets start...

NOTES

- for dntec(all program cores) test do:

dntec -bench

- for the lame test starting from the mp3 file use the above command to obtain the wav file to encode:

lame --decode don't_break_my_hearth.wav to don't_break_my_hearth.mp3

than use:

lame don't_break_my_hearth.wav

to perform the test

- for mplayer test use:

mplayerYOURCPUVERSION -nosound -vo null -benchmark Fashion_DivX720p_ASP.divx

to perform the test

- to rum Afinch and AFlops 68k on OS4 plz download ixemul from os4depot:

http://os4depot.net/share/development/library/ixemul_bin.tar.bz2

and skip the etc: volume request

New audio and video files? Why not use the same like in previous benchmarks for better comparison?

@Tuxedo

Why don't you encourage creative uses of Amiga hardware rather than pointless benchmarking? A ridiculous endeavour as ALL Amigas are relatively slow hardware wise

@BigD

Benchmarks are useful, period. However, I wouldn´t select some of the above benchmarks for my own comparison.

@Tuxedo

Fresh start then.

@pavlor

A simple X5000>X1000>Tabor>Sam 460>Sam 440EX

With Pegasos G4 and older AmigaONE machine slotted into there correct positions would be fine for me.

When the machines are mostly thrashed by 2006 era G5s anyway in pure CPU grunt then it really does bare the question:

Who cares?

More importantly:
Can you play video in 1080p?
Can you bank using the machine with a secure browser?
Can you animate Anim5 files?
Can you run an Office Suite using this machine?
etc

@ Tuxedo

great idea, love benchmarks! also posted this over at amigans

btw, for lame test it should be (to convert mps to wav):

lame --decode don't_break_my_hearth.mp3

@BigD

why don't you just ignore this thread and let others who actually want to participate have some fun

Fine, you all do the equivalent of reving up your little mopeds if it makes you happy but it bears no resemblance to the Amiga I know. Usability and fun is the order of the day not banging the metal to generate statistics!!!!

Because we have that...no other unfortunately...

And that way we can see how current Amiga hw perform related to "old"...

If you dont like them as described on topic is for interested users...

@klx300r

whoops...typo...

However BIG PROBLEM!
Cant edit topic...while pressing "edit" button I get a blank edit window...

Any idea why?

There are many dnetc G4 results for comparison, but if you want, you may get it here (I see I use older version):

I have a Phenom II B59 @ 3.4 GHz with all four cores unlocked that does better.
And this is old technology.

Threadripper is a little too expensive for me, but Ryzen II should be within reach when I feel like upgrading.

@recedent

mmm....I really not expert on dnetec bench...
Why different results on different cores?

MOS uses all cores separately?

HHowever taking fastest scores seems that in single core was about 2 times fast as my G4.

@Zylesea

really GOOD!
I think due to FAST RAM of MacMini compared to Pegasos2/A1 RAM...and also higher clock speed naturlly.
