The final X500 case, the X500 Pro for mini-itx boards has launched:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/505470364/the-x500-pro-computer-case

It is actually two Kickstarters in one as you can also pledge just for Amiga inspired key caps
for mechanical keyboards with Cherry MX switches.

Please forward the above link to anyone you believe might be interested or
websites and social media where you think we could gather some support.

youtube video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBZYUW457i4

I'll add another one later (a system assembly) and also some photos.

Thanks!

@kyle

Thanks!

It's been three years in the making, lots of improvements:
I've managed to keep the price down, compared to the X500 Evo this is cheaper.

- All textured plastic 6 and 4mm thick

- Removable/replaceable window (you can put an aluminium mesh - not included - and improve cooling and looks further

- Optional transparent window

- Optional tinted window in 6 different colours (green, grey, blue, orange, red, yellow)

- Up to four optional 50x50x10mm cooling fans (two per side) instead of the 40x40x10mm
ones

- Space for an internal flex-atx power supply (available from 150-500W), if you require a flex-atx power supply with custom number and length of cables you can contact Athena Power, details on the page

- Space for a more powerful dual slot, full size graphics card (gaming cards up to 17-18cm in length)

- The included, already mounted mechanical keyboard is fully lit

- All the X500 Pro will include the original double hot key caps and key cap puller

- Single key caps can be ordered to make your X500 Pro unique, in any colour, see the attached colour chart

- Full sets of Amiga key caps with your own language layout can be ordered during this campaign in many different colours, chart is on the page

- LEDs on the right

- Recess for your own badge (you'll get an X500 Pro badge that you can apply yourself) or you can order a custom one from Mateo, details on the page

- Space for one SSD, 2.5" drive

- Bigger and redesigned air vents all round

- Hidden ON/OFF switch

And more...

@TheDaddy

Not long ago there was a similar project on Indigogo, it was widely ignored by the 'Amiga Community' because of another project before that drew more attention.

It was A1200 like case that could be used with RaspberryPIs or A1200 boards with PC keyboard.

Your RaspberyPI / Minimig / UAE computer could get a case with a real Amiga licence:

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/amiga-case-the-ultimate-retro-style-computer-case#/

Maybe you project has more luck.

Updated the add-ons:

Now you can add the extra transparent/tinted windows/key caps cost to your pledge.

@TheDaddy

It's cool that you managed to fit a Flex ATX psu in the new case.

By the way I discovered a PSU that'll fit the previous X500 case and offers up to 400w. You can either pait it with their 300w DC adapter for internal mounting or use a high end laptop brick externally. They have a list of suggested external adapters including a couple of Dell models rated at 330W.

Link.

Nice find Rob!

I've added some photo to the facebook page:

If anyone is interested in the light modes of the keyboards have a look here:

I've always loved the design of the X500 cases.

But I also think that the relatively high price has prevented people from buying it.

That made me wonder if the design could be made in acylic by German www.plexilaser.de

Their Amiga500 replament case costs 130 Euros.

Acrylic Amiga replacement case.

They don't even require a certain number of cases to be made. If you provide them with the right data / schematics they will make just a single unit if you'd like.

Could that be a way to bring the X500 to market?

Cheers from Denmark

@smartroad

The project was never fully backed from what I can see, maybe way it was cancelled, anyway the A1222 also has not arrived, making this project maybe little premature.

I hope they reconsider when the A1222 is on the market.
Or maybe they can make some changes so the VampireMK4 standalone also fits.
