I can't believe I did this, but I overwrote the Mounter file in the C directory of OS 3.9 with a copy of the Mounter from my OS 4.1 FE Classic disc. I just wanted to take a peek at what was different, then I thought I could get away with copying a few things. I definitely should've stopped when I was warned that the Mounter would replace the existing file. It causes an illegal instruction crash even on safe mode. I have my copy of OS 3.9 as well, but how do I get the file corrected? (Kids don't try this one at home!)

@Doofus

There is no "Mounter" file in C:. Do you mean the "Mount" command? There is a PPC version of that in OS4.1, also called "Mount". Is that what you copied?

If you have the OS3.9 CD, you should be able to boot the system from the CD, then copy the file from the CD (It's in the C/ drawer). If you can't boot OS3.9 from the CD, anyone here could email you the file (it's only 6684 bytes long).

@tonyw

Yes, I think you've got it right. I'm trying now to boot from the 3.9 CD.
Thanks.
