A new Amiga related project has been initiated by two Norwegians from the small town of Hønefoss.

It is called Amiga Model X and is en emulation based machine.

@AmigaOldskooler

Nice, using a case based on the design of an external power supply, is a nice alternative to all those bulky keyboard cases.

I believe they will use something like a RaspberryPI as emulation hardware. Far from the original hardware but cheap, powerful and flexible.

They should be careful with the brand name Amiga. There are enough alternatives lake Amy, Lorraine, or Omega that could keep lawyers away.

@AmigaOldskooler

I like the keyboard a lot. But what's in the brick? Some of the ports on the back look like a Pi, but not all of them. I suppose it could be Odroid of some sort.

@AmigaOldskooler

Interesting

Yet another one. 😊

I saw the armiga recently while checking for amipup update, and also ambian for the raspberry pi.

The armiga looks very practical and can run original amiga disks also.

Above link to the armiga.

@AmigaOldskooler

It would seem strange that it is called a new Amiga. Since it's not exactly a new Amiga but an emulator running on a small computer that's not an Amiga. Does it feature AAA or Hombre for instance?

@Gebrochen

Yes this Armiga has been known about for a while. Looks compact. Again, same idea, emulated Amiga running on an ARM computer. I seem to take issue with running an Amiga emulator inside a custom box. It would seem an FPGA design would be more considered a "real" computer.

@Hypex

It looks a nice idea well packaged. But really who are the license holders now anyway? Is this split between Hyperion and Cloanto now? Is AInc. still involved. After the past 20 years of shenanigans after Gateway I am unsure.

@-Sam-

That's what I wonder. Well Amiga the Inc have disappeared, or they are no longer at amiga.com, my ping test go to site for the past 20 years. But according to this Cloanto owns the copyright to AmigaOS or Workbench as they called it and Hyperion have an exclusive license.

@Hypex

Thanks for the link. I've read that before, but this stood out to me:

Quote:
Hyperion's license can only be transferred to a third party with Amiga Inc.'s consent.

If this is still the case, then Amiga Inc. still has some legal leverage as long as they remain solvent.

Why use RaspBi when there is a suitable 35€ FPGA Computer availlable, wich you even fit inside ot that keyboard?
