| Knowing the current actors of the Amiga scene, try to describe how (according to you) a possible Commodore Amiga company could be founded; who should be the chief, the executive director, hardware director, software director, marketing director ... developers and so on ... This should include AmigaOS, MorphOS, Aros, and Team Vampire Apollo.
I kindly ask users to be frank and kind, never offending anyone, omitting (any) past and future disagreements and to be constructive.
Thank you

| Ideally it should be run by someone who isn't a sociopath, and who can cooperate with others without trying to sue everyone and their mom out of existence. |

| I would like to see David Pleasance of FriendUp run the show as he so nearly did until Escom ruined the party.
The vampire team would also be a nice addtion to have on board

I don't see why the Commodore trademark is important but with regards to the Amiga; A-EON should buy out Hyperion The job's done then with hardware and software under one umbrella. Hyperion can then revert to their preferred profession as a corporate law firm
The Commodore brand can continue to be used to brand watches, cheap android phones and lunch boxes for all I care _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |

So you wanted someone without the cash or the the guts to withstand the fire of big business and has been whining about for over 2 decades?
Keeping C=/Amiga relevant after 94 would have required a billion $, more than ESCOM could muster (hence only warmed up C= Amigas and little development) and a complete different world to what Mr Pleasance could have.
As to FriendUP, a solution in a search of a problem all spiced up with the buzzwords of the day while showing 0 substance? Yeah, what could go wrong, and more important why do i feel like someone pulled me back 18 years......_________________ - We don't need good ideas, we haven't run out on bad ones yet - blame Canada |

None. It's time to let Amiga and Commodore go. They were great in 1980s but that was 30 years ago. We can enjoy what we have right now and leave it like that. _________________ Rock lobster bit me. I don't think there a viable business strategy for Amiga, nor has there been for a long time. That ship sank with Gateway.
I assume Cloanto and AmigaKit are viable, at least in the short-run, but other than that the situation is grim. Any future Amiga-like endeavors need to be community projects so that they are sustainable without revenue for as long as someone is interested in maintaining them.

I don't follow. There is money to be made from Tabor and AmigaOS4.2. They need to release both soon and see how far they can run with it. A big marketing splash is out of the question but a good showing at Retro Computer events, computing press/websites etc should be a priority rather than the drawn out soft launch that the X5000 had _________________ "Art challenges technology. A-EON is dependent on Hyperion, and Hyperion does not appear to be a healthy business. If the A1222 makes it to market I will celebrate--I may even buy one--but that's looking less likely as time goes by.

If this feeling/opinion given at the time has changed, fine. But it sure seemed that the entire thrust of anything labelled 4.2 was merely about the necessary support for a Tabor release.

First you heal the wounds that have scared the Amiga community and caused it to be fractured. Now from what I have seen, it looks like those in the community are making strides in coming together for the greater good of the Amiga platform.
If I was the multi-billionaire charged with bringing Commodore back from the dead, I would go seek out the Commodore all stars who made it all possible and build a dream (engineering) team. Of course bringing in folks like David Pleasance to drive the business aspect would be key. Also bringing in Commodore enthusiasts like Jeri Ellsworth and of course Trevor Dickinson of A-Eon would sweeten the deal. Last edited by AmigaMac on 04-May-2018 at 04:22 PM.

> David Pleasance > Jeri Ellsworth > Trevor Dickinson
None of them would make it to the top 1000(0) of innovative people that could bring a startup to success.
And:
To do what?
Release an hyped up AmigaDTV bundled with 20 games form 30 years ago?
Slap "Amiga" on a bunch of unrelated products?
Invest several billions to make Amiga another meetoo computer system?
To answer the OP question:
I'd gather all the failures of the past 35 years (those listed above are free to join) and make sure they run the new C= so much into the ground that noone everafter will dare to touch the IP in a commercial sense (not even to file frivolous lawsuit).
Amiga would finally be free, maybe even free from the fanboys still believing in resurrection _________________ - We don't need good ideas, we haven't run out on bad ones yet - blame Canada |
