| What happened to IBrowse 2.5.? Is it as dead as the rest of the web browsers for Amiga?* Hopes were high last year that an update was, if not imminent, but in the works. Since then it has been complete silence an no updates have been posted on the home page. IBrowse might not be cutting edge but development is always positive.
*=Maybe except Netsurf. |

The IBrowse Team posted something on their Twitter feed last week about it and when i enquired when it was coming out the standard response of "when it is ready" was given.
so hope that helps?

How could I have missed that? I think that I checked that page just a few weeks ago. Maybe they have updated it in hindsight? Good that development is still going on though. |

I never used IBrowse (always used AWeb back in the day) and i didn't really follow the development.
Could you break down for me what IBrowse 2.5 will feature regarding the "standard" we have right now (Odyssey/OWB) on AmigaOS4.
I know that it might probably be aimed at the classic users, but what about CSS, HTML5 and all that new stuff that comes out daily? Could it be a full replacemant to, lets say Odyssey? |

It's one of my favourites but I've given up on any thing becoming of it. There's been a native PPC version for some time now, for years IIRC, but only for those beta testing it. The rest of us have the poor mans 68K version with PPC sub-modules on OS4. Aside from that the engine is old and there would be too much work to bring it up to date. 20 years ago yes but things move too fast for a small team now days. Even the browsers we have lag behind and they are built using the current engine of the time. IBrowse used to go up against the likes of Voyager and AWeb. Voyager disappeared years ago. AWeb was open sourced. IBrowse won that war. It has that honour. |

Enable both "SSLv2 support" and "SSLv3 support" on the "Security" page of the IBrowse preferences and enter the following command in a shell:
setenv save AmiSSL/SSL_CLIENT_VERSION tls1
That should work. As you've found, the IBrowse website redirects http to https. _________________ IBrowse, AmiSSL and Warp Datatype Developer |
