@NutsAboutAmiga

Amiga community will be extinct around 2050, in some parts of the world (eg. US) even sooner. I estimate not much will be left of the Amiga users around 2030.

Bad idea.

The "owners" would simply file for trademarks and steal such technology to make replicas of themselves and we would be right back where we started.

@NutsAboutAmiga

Many people would say where already dead, but I think realistically I think the kind of community we got now with the odd mini event, the odd great community project we could survive at this level for a very long time, I think the retro scene pulls in a few new people and I have seen and spoke to people who not grown up with the Amiga be interested in it. But I still dream of a next gen Amiga and a slight revival, os4 and amigaone are not bad but needs more resources and I think lower price point.

We need more people to buy stuff.

People will be firing up Amigas in 100 years time. They may still be complaining about the Tabor.

When will the Amiga hobby die?

Joking aside ...

Remember when computing was fun?

I still have fun with my Amiga hobby.

@remotenemesis

Tabor will be forgotten, just like Q-box, MCC, A\Box, BoXeR, Amirage and all the others I can't even recall...

BoXeR now!!! LOL

I forgot about that one....

BTW, I googled B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC and I'm stumped....

Although a bunch of "AMIGA" related hits come up.

How about a hint?

Strip away the ones that are postings by me and you should be left with a torrent to a certain open source project, lol

@NutsAboutAmiga

Actually it already did when we lost our last chance to buy a Towerhawk PPC Amiga from Randomize in 1999. The last Amiga 1200 motherboards with bus for Toaster slots and Zorros, Picasso, CD-ROM, and up to '060/75 with 366 MHz PPC. I goofed and sent my money to Anti-Gravity and never got a BoXer, or money back. So did many others. I'm 67 now, bought my first Amiga in 1988. Kept my A2000 and just loaded fresh installs of Wing Commander, Populous II and Syndicate! (real retro gaming) Thank god for SCSI to micro SD card adapters. 21st Century electronics will give all older Amigas a boost. They will probably appreciate in value like old jukeboxes and pinball machines. Most owners now have 5 or 6 machines and know how to fix them.

I hate to admit it, but I bought a Raspberry Pi and put an Amiga inside of it! With proper funding and programming dollars Element blew right by everyone and soon more like Quake III will be ported directly to it. (and that's already a retro game!) So you can see why I mark 1999. More potential users born; no more old hardware to spare.
