In this site with the list of all Internet coins appears the AmigaCoin as dead.

@Lou
even if you could, they would be to underpowered to compete.
For this reason we are working on a pure "masternode" coin.

@Topic

Is it dead as in cant do anything about it, or dead, as in no one mining it?

One problem was that i was basically wanting to mine it, but didnt find clear enough instructions to do so back when i tried.

I actually meant to try it again with Bitmains L3 machine, since they both based upon same algorithm to my understanding, so perhaps i could have mined it with that.

@phoenixkonsole

The raw processing power required for a currency can be offset by algorithms/hardcoded to require 68k or?

I realise that if a certain currency is designed to be mined on 68k hardware (like Amiga), someone will adjust emulation to take advantage of the massive power of x68 CPUs.

With the unstability of the US dollar, and several large central banks selling off US treasuries, and moving to Gold (safe haven when people start to suspect a crash); it seems like certain monetary players are actively searching for alternatives for the US Dollar as the reserve currency.
Several contries are now trading their oil in Euro instead of US dollar for example.

This is one of the reasons why bitcoins/chain seems to be discussed alot.

Nope.. we are living in a world of ASIC and FPGA's : )
You can't hide you can't fight... They always get you..
As soon it makes sense, someone will create a "custom" design to solve your algorithm.

To ensure that a coin can't be mined by an ASIC or FPGA, you would need to raise memory requirements to the moon and this again is not the home of our amiga ...

EDIT:
Also mining wastes energy.. PoW (proof of work = mining) got an alternative called PoS (proof of Stake). With a PoS coin you get the chance to fill the next block just by holding coins or running a so called masternode. They don't need to be powerful..
The requirement is a given number of coins and 24/7 on-time.

@phoenixkonsole

Yeah, Ive heard the PoW and PoS discussion.

With regards to wasted energy, that depends how you frame it.

What is standard currency, like the US Reserves, being maintained by?

One of the main securities for US Dollar is US military/NATO, so IF you decide to really do a realitybased calculation as to how much energy is spend to generate 1 US dollar equivialent in BitCoin, Im not confident the standard currency is more enviromental/energy efficient.

BUT, this becomes a very difficult framing, I agree. I still think its a valid datapoint

I am proud that you can't mine on Amiga computers. It makes it a shining beacon of sanity. Mining is the biggest waste of computing power in history.

You are right.. But keep US $ out and just compare PoS and PoW.. is complex enough : )

Whatever .. from my personal experience I can say that for Oldschool computers PoS is the way to go.. Mining (PoW) requires continually upgrading to the most powerfull/efficient device in order to compete with other miners..

if you like, and I suggest, keep an eye on the discord channel..
You will soon find talk about AmiCloud /indieGO appstore/AEROS/PiggyBank Miner/CryptoMages and a lot more as well as previews.

I would be glad if the first participants would be Amigans.. you know.. the early bird catches the worm.. (german). We will do some airdrops and we have now established a level-checker channel.

Hum, perhaps if the mining programs will run on MorphOS, AROS and AmigaOS4.x, the AmigaCoin will be live but the big question where get the AmigaCoins and where they be can use to buy things.

Well as soon a coin is on an exchange, you can change it into bitcoin and this can be exchanged to euro or dollar

In our case we are going to accept the coin in our shop and in the AppStore
Also a Cloud Mining service is going to accept the coin.

I would love to be able to "mine" Gridcoin on my Sam using AmigaOS. That is one coin that is not a waste of computing power or energy. It is having some issues with GDPR now, though, because World Community Grid and Einstein@home have made changes for GDPR compliance (with more projects to follow, probably).

I would not make my computers work on PoW stupidity like Bitcoin.

Meanwhile we progressed with telos and our network has grown to the top 3 based on number of connected nodes. By end of next month we could reach place 2 .
Telos value is around 0.3 cents .

https://masternodes.online/currencies/TELOS/

We are close to finish the steps to finish work on the new transcendence dashboard which will be also available for Amigans and combines the AppStore with the cloud part.

Next week we will release Aeros for Pi 4.3 which adds support for pi 3+ and the telos wallet (and more .. ). Everyone who bought AEROS plus or premium can ask for free 1000 Telos.

Aeros Plus will be available for free and premium with Exegear desktop which allows execution of x86 binaries on ARM will be less expensive.

Now that Phoenixkonsole mentioned, I am going to use this to shamelessly promote my writings regarding Telos for those who want to know more about Telos:

@Snorg
Well the idea is to fund amiga developments : )
And to allow people gaining a bit passive Monopoly money to buy stuff from developers.
