I don't think it's a lack of interest, but I do think people are getting tired of the cryptic "announcing an annoncement" game.

very much so. it was fine with the X1000 because the end-product was such a game changer and it was novel, but by now, it's extremely tiresome. especially if it ends up being some ridiculous nonsense from the 'friendUP' people or yet another fly-by-night outfit coming up with some cheap, 'retro' emulation thingy.

but who knows? maybe it will be interesting. in the mean time i'm not going to bother trying to play some puzzle. if whomever it is has something to announce, i'll pay attention then. not before.

Not an IPFS hash.

It's probably SHA-256 for something that's not in a public database.

Quite possible. None of the public databases I tried held cleartext for the hash.

Names have power and that name has a great deal of power in this community. I just hope amiga.com could be used to unite, rather than sell some unrelated product.

I'm going to be very disappointed if this is related to FriendUP.

Yeah, I couldn't help myself investing in multiple copies of Christmas Card Maker and I flew to America on multiple occasion to see hockey at The Amiga Center at Kent because of the power of marketing and the Amiga.com brand! It had such an impeccable reputation and the branding was so on cue that I couldn't help myself! Who wouldn't trust this man?

... in summary you'd be better off inventing a weird company name such as A-EON and flogging that for all its worth rather than spending ANY money acquiring the rotting corpse of an IP / website that is amiga.com.

@hatschi

Nothing to see here, just a topic change to help reflect history as seen by the majority.

Just an idea: Maybe it's a symmetric-key algorithm!? - I tried AES256 and a few passwords (Amiga, friend, Commodore, ...), but without success.

It's somewhat disappointing that nothing happened on the 23rd. But I'd still like to know what's behind all this.

Welcome to Amigaworld.

See my utterly sarcastic sig (bottom). It should explain much.

Maybe, but that's getting beyond my purview, so I won't hazard a guess. I've kind of lost interest at this point.

We're a diverse group of people, but disappointment is the thread that binds us together.

@snurf.T

Something did happen on the 23rd - the comment changed from ‘Every 33 years’ to this code.

@Birbo

Who cares? It's hardly as interesting as the X1000 teaser

How about using it as a Hyperion vs Cloanto mediation page with calm Enya / Morcheeba type music playing and animating cangle flames burning? Maybe an interactive section where Hyperion employees / contractors can arrange evening meals / Amiga themed play dates with Cloanto employees to ease the tensions. How about a careers page where Hyperion directors can fill in a questionnaire to decide whether they want to focus on software development or a legal career!

Maybe a section on how crippling debt, a sinking business and toddler style 'anti-share syndrome' can lead to aggressive IP battles, litigtion and the desire for a scorched earth approach to everything you once held dear and how to cope with it.

I think it is a date.

11/29/2001, Hyperion started working on AmigaOS 4.x in November 2001 so maybe it is it.
