Hi

The original Amiga 1200 that I used for the Apollo had a strange issue which I had thought was the card. The card would work fine with the case open but stop working as soon as I closed it. It was only after some looking closely at the motherboard that I dicovered this jumper.

I had screwed the shielding down where the PCMCIA slot is broken after finding the screw was missing, and each time I closed the case, the keyboard would press on the shielding and short out the motherboard and stop the computer from working, as it came into contact with those pins. I have never been able to determine why and wondered if anyone here knew.

@scuzz

You can find info about it on A1200 PCB schematics:

Page 14,IIRC.

I’d put a drop of silicone to prevent them from shortcircuiting, or even some duct tape covering them.

Saluditos,

Ferrán.

@scuzz

More info on these pins: looks like it's a common modification to add a reset button (one of the pins in the image is KBD_RESET, the other one is ground), like in towers.

Saluditos,

Ferrán.
