In a tweet out to his followers about my blog post / video showing an Amiga 1000 rendering No Man's Sky visuals (optimized HAM mode slideshow), Sean Murray threw his hat into the Amiga vs ST war of olde.

Lovely.

Very very cool. Don't forget to tell him about the 64 bit Arnie Schwarzenegger of amigas, the 68080+ Saga Vampire standalone !
Maybe he'll buy one and do something with it.
A few years ago there were 4000 vampire board. Orders.. Interestingly there is for example 5700 aw members. Interesting.

Maybe Trevor should donate them a Tabor board and one of the new A500 cases when released. Modern stable and no windoooooz involved

Or Tabor board and one of Stephens new A1500 plus cases.

Anything Windows can do Amiga can do better

@g01df1sh

Youre joking right?
The original Amigas were interesting machines worthy of nostalgia.
The Tabor and OS4 are of zero interest to %99.99 of people.
I'd much rather not taint peoples memories of a great machine with pieces of crap like Tabor.
20 years ago it'd have struggled to be competitive.

That's unfair. It should be a (fairly) competively priced way of running modern and classic software while feeling like a proper modern machine capable of running Linux too. It's not revolutionary but neither should it be considered crap!

@BigD

As I said, 20 years ago it'd have struggled to be competitive. Unless it's rpi style pricing then yes, its fair to call it crap.
Other than i/o (which is merely old) even the x5000 is pretty much retro, so something like tabor needs to be more or less given away to be anything more than a waste of money. A pentium3 will smack it silly and you can't give them away these days. Simply being able to run OS4 on something doesnt stop crap being crap. It's insulting to be a potential "scamee", which is what the OS4 market is..... bunch of clueless dudes playing at being businessmen, taking down the amiga name in the process and getting the community involved to help fund these (granted, probably unintentional) incompetent cons.

Being able to run a subpar version of linux is hardly a selling point. %99 of trash computers offer a much better experience.
