Hi

Couldn't resist the reference to the capping given that I have never had an Amiga recapped... but hey.

Delicate subject in truth the celebrating of my 30 Amiga 1200s. I do know that some view the collecting of so many an issue. It's not a problem for me and I do discuss this in the blogs. Has been a long time coming this series of entries. I have been scratching my head a while now as to how many I had. Now I know I guess, though there may be another lurking in a cupboard.

I make no apologies for what I have , after all I'm a nutter as you all know. With over 100 Amiga computers here would you have anticipated any different. And sorry, no, I am not in any mood to part with any.

Anyway I set too and photographed them all and gave a brief description. I batched them in numbers of five and here they all are.

'The Amiga 1200 for me is more than a computer. It is more than
the some of its parts. It represents a time in my life when I was
on my knees and broken and needed a friend. The computer entered
my life and lifted my spirits and sparked a resurgence in my very
being. She was there every night I returned home from my busy
toils and never let me down. I am sure there are some reading this
that have been taken or bitten by the Amiga bug and even now
appreciate what it is to have a working Amiga in their grasp.
Some will have parted company but still wish deep down they could
again hear that gentle click of the floppy drive. For me I live
the dream every day and will do so until the day I die. BUT and
the big but.... they are all mine. I would not change a thing in
terms of collecting. And in truth if things were different I
would collect another 30.'

To anyone that has an Amiga 1200 I say 'well done'. Please look
after your cherished and wonderful computer cus in truth she
represents probably the greatest computer ever made. I believe
that totally. I will not explain why but I will show you 30 of
them. I am so lucky to have so many 'girlfriends'.

Yes...hmm, they have medications that can treat OCD you know.
But if you aren't harming anyone, have fun.

In the meanwhile, we all know of a stash of A1200s that will become available when you pass away, unless you are going to be buried with them.

It's such a shame that you haven't the room (I guess) to lay them all in a line, end to end. That would make an amazing pic. There can't be many (any) folks who have that many Amigas. You tread that fine line between mad and dedicated. :)

You are spot on about the A1200. It was and is an amazing machine, and my memories of using one in the mid 90s (July 1993 to October 1997 to be as precise as my memory will let me) are similar to yours. I have not loved a computer since that first A1200. This is despite owning an A500 for 3 years before. There's just something about the A1200. You could do proper work on it, yet it still had that home computer charm and of course endless games.

My collection is pitiful next to yours. I have two A1200s; the original one bought in 1993 which I'll never part with and a "spare" I bought a couple of years ago. Unfortunately both have little cap-related problems, one sound and one video. Need to get those sorted some time and plug her in again!

Given your attitude I truly hope you lose them all in a fire or something equally tragic.
I mean this with all sincerity.

@fishy_fis

I see your point but I have to disagree because I cannot imagine the loss of 30 Amigas in a fire. Think of the children; I mean, the Amigas. However, if something were to happen to them, I think it would be fun to watch a video of all the 30 Amiga A1200 cases standing up on one end and falling over then sequentially in a game of white dominoes. That would look amazing.

Just a thought when my life ends who can use them. Got a few too.

The insurance company does not give anything from old stuff over here if not separately noted that You have them. Then pay the expensive bills.

As being a "Security (Fire&All Person)" in some old work papers there is no harm comming.

Here Amigagirls are at home when firing up the turbocharged. They are too young to learn all.
One does have a samsung galaxy though for security calls if needed from the schoolway.

Some Amiga 1200's are in the factory package still. Some sold and the buyer had to cap.

Sorry for that.

Thousands of disks and magazines.

Not the only nuts one.

Could sell two A1200's with Petro's signature but only for PRofessionals.

And maybe an A500 or two.

That is indeed an impressive collection! Still, you might want to be more circumspect on the caps -- sometimes in the wee hours, in the dead of night, when the world is asleep, one can hear the ominous sound of electrolyte vaporizing in the darkness...

scuzz we already know you're Amiga crazy BUT damn 30 1200 crazy is on another level

I would cap the 1200's or at least the ones you want to keep for another 30 years since I've seen more than one in my parts damaged from leaking caps..mind you they were all not used for many years so if you start them up every once in a while i think you'll be ok BUT the only Amiga I've NEVER seen with no bad caps is the one and only Amiga 1000

You are REALLY making me paranoid about my older electronic devices.

BTW - Since A1200 are mostly built from SMT components, are there higher quality replacement components available?
No point in replacing something if its going to crap out again in 20 years.
