| Hi All,
I have an Amiga CD32 without the CD-Rom drive. Would anyone have knowledge about weather a CD-Rom drive from another system like Sega-Mega or Dreamcast or a PS1 would work as a replacement for that drive? I was looking at some YouTube videos about these systems and noticed that the CD Drives looked almost identical to the on in the CD32. True or False? Thanks so much Brad Hansen |

How on earth do you have an Amiga CD32 without the CD? That leaves you with an Amiga 32. Never heard of it!
Perhaps now is the time to upgrade to a DVD burner.
I was discussing this very issue with my Amiga friends. From laser removal to replacing the whole mechanism. |

| First, the whole cd unit is missing not just the laser. Second I’m trying to make a complete CD32, nothing else. Thirds, I have no use for a ps2 port or anything else ps2. But thanks for the feedback Brad Hansen

| @Punkyclown Quiet as finding a CD32 player is almost impossible I gave you the solution less than 100 euros to make usable your cd32 with a mouse and keyboard operating system and all the games installed with whdload
less than 100 euros
Then do what you want https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtZotEIvO30 Last edited by cip060 on 02-Aug-2018 at 06:21 PM.

| @cip060 Send me a thumb drive with WHDLoad scripts and all the Amiga games and I’ll sing your praises . The question was can I take the drive unit form another console and use it here. That’s about as much altering as I want to do, but kind of major.
Thanks Brad Hansen |

Answer is "Maybe, but not likely". Drive you are looking for is Sony KSM-2101BAM which uses proprietary interface so finding interchangeable from other console will be hit and miss. Check ebay and you might get lucky. |

| I expect the drive was custom manufactured for Commodore so chances of finding a match in something other then a CD32 would be slim to none. It may be possible to find a dead CD32 with a motherboard eaten by leaking caps (should be very cheap) that has a working drive, maybe try Amibay. |

It's obvious that English isn't your 1st language..... he's not "treating you" in any way, but merely pointing out that your solution IS NOT what he wants, which he's said more than once in this thread. |

I have an extra MECH that the laser needs to be replaced. That is much easier to do than trying to find a who MECH from another machine. The lasers are more standard.... Give me a PM.
I will be going to the CRX show at the end of the month too so I can bring it.
